Thing I like about brutalism for public offices is that it is very honest. If properly maintained they look imposing as the state should look. If poorly funded, they look it with rapid deterioration and lack of cleaning.

I don't even know what a single family with a yard would cost around here. There's a lot across the street that has a literal shack on half an acre and it's listed for 600k (obviously that's the land price). Not quite SF property values but pretty close. I am right down the road from McLean proper though, which is largely single family McMansions and Saudi compounds.
