Just a question about the GoFundMe. Can you e-mail all the donors when you start your WITW LP? I assume you have all our names and e-mails.

Not sure, people would have to ok it, I've done my GDPR course, and don't fee; right emailing people's names and addresses to some random person on the internet. what are you plotting? Still waiting on the money btw, it seems to have had a moment it said the first chunk would be in on the 18th, but now has it coming in on the 28th. After that, I'll start chasing them up! Still trying to decide on the best way to spend it - would a 27" 1080p monitor be better with my slightly aging system, or do I go for a 1440p one and futureproof a bit. You lot have given me a stupid amount, but I want to be miserly with it, and computer kit costs! I want to leave 100-150 to cover later games at least! I have got 8 gig of ram second hand. but I'm not spending more than I can cover with my own funds atm - it's not real until it's in my account.

Anything that helps you do turns easier and faster is gonna make everyone happy. If you want a monitor, I'd definitely go 1440 on 27 inch. iirc, you have a decently modern GPU so that shouldn't be an issue. Though a lot of these games are CPU-bound, that may only be a very marginal improvement compared to a better monitor/workspace setup unless your computer is very old. As for the start of WITW, I say just post in the LP announcement thread. It's a very slow thread so no pain to bookmark it, and anyone who visits the forums a couple times a week will be there within a day or two of the start.

I'd also add this... don't overextend yourself! We gave money because we enjoy your LPs, not because we demanded to see 4-5 running at once. So don't burn yourself out trying to deliver the amount of LPstuff that you think we're expecting.

Wonder if this is modelled in-game? (No of course it's not, but cool story) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HNLMS_Abraham_Crijnssen_(1936) quote:Built during the 1930s, she was based in the Netherlands East Indies when Japan attacked at the end of 1941. Ordered to retreat to Australia, the ship was disguised as a tropical island to avoid detection, and was the last Dutch ship to escape from the region.

simplefish posted:Wonder if this is modelled in-game? (No of course it's not, but cool story) Actually, it sort of is (unintentionally). You can usually avoid detection for even fairly large fleets by disbanding them into a tiny island dot base, as opposed to keeping them in a task force. This is because the Naval Search air mission only looks for task forces and not ships in port. It’s gamey but apparently people do it in MP sometimes.

Take out those supplies! I was unloading fresh planes at Guam, and the ships carrying them take the hits. Bloody carriers! To be fair though, most days should be like this for me at this point in the war! In other news the GFM money just hit. now it feels real!

Ibblebibble posted:Imagine a Kido Butai made of Rathaloses, burning down the Pacific. So a comic called "Drifters" has that going on. Basically it is all famous historic warriors being transported to a fantasy world and duking it out using their wits and technological savvy. Tamon Yamaguchi appears with his damaged aircraft carrier Hiryuu and convinces a trading nation that'd be awesome to have Drake's and their drake riders take off from ships as a fantasy air Force. It is fairly neat.

Grey, one thing I think you're forgetting when you do the Close Combat videos is that your infantry teams carry smoke grenades. You're good at using smoke from the mortars to blind enemy positions that are far away from you, but you often charge your infantry squads right into enemy fire to take nearby positions. Those advances can be a lot less deadly and a lot more effective if you have the infantry prep their own advance by first throwing smoke into the area they're going to run through.

I think they are trying to get supplies into Manus! I'd rather you shell the troops lads. We continue to rule the skies. Lightnings are dropping from the skies! We win in Burma! I have Tojo's everywhere now! This is painful, but again, I can't really complain! They mop up the damaged ships from yesterday. More important light industry hits! I could sally with my own carriers, but it would not be a full force, so I am resisting. I shall not make the mistake of sending them in piecemeal! Still, I would so like to respond.

Their back at Wake! They plan on leaving no survivors it seems. Wake wipes out some more of the 7th Infantry division. We strike Chunking hard! Warhawks? We laugh at Warhawks! Even a massive wave of Thunderbolts does them no good! My god, their air losses are horrendous! This is a great thing! We trade destroyers today. We also get a report the Bunker Hill is still in service.

22 August 1944 It’s a big day for subs. In the Pacific three Japanese escorts go down near Manila: Sado to Haddo and Hiburi and Matsuwa to Harder. U-354 torpedoes CVE HMS Nabob and frigate HMS Bickerton off the North Cape; the former limps back to Britain under her own steam and the latter, though salvageable, is scuttled for tactical reasons. U-480 sinks minesweeper HMS Loyalty off Spithead. 23 August 1944 Haddo strikes again, sinking the destroyer Asakaze. US aircraft sink the German torpedo boat TA-9 (ex-French Bombarde) at Toulon. 24 August 1944 The German escort SG-14 (ex-French aviso Matelot Leblanc) goes down to air attack off Capraia. RAF Beaufighters sink the German destroyer Z-24 and torpedo boat T-24 off Le Verdon.
