There hasn't been a huge western push until World if that is what you mean. I think Nintendo had to fund the translation for 4U, Generations, and Stories.

Nah, I've still never played a MH game in English. Before World I think I've played 2, 3p, 4 and XX, and all of them dropped you off in the village and basically said "welp, you know what to do so get to it!"

I lost interest in World too. I clearly like the idea of MH more than actually playing it.

Nintendo began helping Capcom push Monster Hunter since Tri on Wii (similar to how they pushed Dragon Quest). It resulted in the series doing better with each entry, which culminated in a million units sold "in the West". With World the series became a platinum seller in the West because, lets face it, they switched to systems where the market for these games were.

Remember the PlayStation remasters of FF III, IV, V, VI, and Chrono Trigger? I don't want to dig my PSX out of whatever box it's hiding in, would love to play those again.

Also, Square, while you're doing that, Front Mission 3 would be great too.

Oh okay, I could have sworn 4 had more story bits to help with that.

But yeah Monster Hunter is a series similar to Dragon Quest where all design decisions were based on tradition. Like Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter is also huge in Japan so don't fix what isn't broke. Like the biggest thing World did is streamline the process and cut out all the chaff so it can get you back to the core gameplay which is mostly unchanged.

Man after how much I loved World, I was really hoping I could figure out how to like Generations Ultimate. The first fight in the demo was fun enough and I beat it on my first try, but the other two were absolutely miserable. The third one at least had a really cool design and attacks, but the whole time I was fighting it I just kept wishing that I was doing so in World instead.

I wish World had more monsters. I came back to it this week after a few months off and had fun for a bit fooling around with a new weapon and fighting tempered monsters, but after just a couple days I'm bored again. The endless grind of stronger versions of the same monsters doesn't do it for me, I want more new ones. Generations would be perfect for that, but I just can't adjust to the clunkier mechanics. :sigh:

The worst part about Monster Hunter games is that they're never going to bring back the cool insects and crustaceans because they can't reuse anything from the various dragonsaurs

They're starting from scratch with World, so they're probably not going to have the sheer breadth of monsters that Generations Ultimate has for a long time.

Didn’t the PS port of Chrono Trigger include an awful few seconds of loading before each battle? I bought it digitally for ps3 and remember the added loading times being a deal breaker.

Making assets in HD means that they have to reuse stuff like animation skeletons as much as possible (to save $ and time) and the cool arthropods can't reuse anything from the dragonsaurs and have way more legs and parts to animate. I doubt that they're ever coming to World and I would be very surprised if they ever show up again.

Mostly because I got the Wii version (with IGN watermark) and loved it so much I 100%ed it twice and spent so long looking at the bestiary and listening to the music that I have the whole game etched into my memories to this day.

It's the Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash dressing room with a Visual Novel style plot around it. The girls are trapped in a shinobi barrier which brings out alternate personalities. The player selects one by rubbing their hands and bringing one of the personalities out. (It's also the only time HD rumble is used and it indicates if the finger will start a new event.)

Each personality is pretty standard for a Japanese game. Little Sister, Techer, Wife, Idol, etc. They all ask for a massage which opens up the grabby hands and water gun from the Senran Kagura dressing room. The controls are the same as PS4/Vita just adapted to the Switch. Depending on where the player touches the backgound lighting changes and eventually a waggle game becomes available.

The waggle games are just shaking the controller in rhythm while giving a massage until a meter fills up then they "finish"

The VN scene then continues based on the background color chosen and a meter fills up. After 5 sessions it unlocks a part of an illustration. Once the illustration unlocks the barrier breaks and the girl goes on to the events of Senran Kagura 7
