Yeah intros like Batman the Animated Series and Twin Peaks are great and timeless. On the other side of the coin, I loved watching as a kid the Disney Afternoon shows, but I hated the intros for most of them (except Ducktales, that one was great). It's hard to argue that intros are really necessary anymore, but I have found that the intro of whatever Star Trek I'm watching on Netflix is the perfect amount of time for me to go grab a snack/drink/dessert while cool music plays.

Having a main character be a former gun-runner for the IRA is pretty tasteless. The LOST intro is awful. Yeah, it's only like three seconds, but in that three seconds they still manage to have a big seam in the 3D model of the 'S' noticeably glitch out.
