I don't see Obama as a monster or anything, he seems like he actually cared about America/Americans, but I thought he was a weak and ineffectual president. I didn't think it was that spicy of a take

He was only weak because his blackness broke people’s minds and pointing it out would only double down their hatred. It was a no win scenario.

We had never before seen the level of obstruction Obama had to deal with. After that first couple of years a lot of the more spineless Dems distanced themselves from him in an attempt to keep their seats. That didn't make governing easy.

If Obama was willing to ignore the Angry Black Man image and strongarm stuff through like the public option America would've been a lot better off be he wasn't willing to and he didn't even want the public option anyway so here we are. Trump getting elected is probably the biggest indictment of how much of a failure the concept of respectability politics is.

Woodrow Wilson was horrifically racist but he managed the country well and navigated it through the Great War as best as he could. His successor, was Warren G. Harding. Who actually IS one of the worst presidents in our history.

Of course, Trump's sexual exploits and corruption are starting to blow past even Warren G. Harding.

I haven't read much about Trumps exploits outside of Stormy, but one of my papers in undergrad focused on Harding's affair with Nan Britton and his letters to her were downright filthy, and not even in a 1920s type way.

Donnie doesn't have the attention span to write a whole letter. You'd probably get a newspaper clipping about his casino going bankrupt with a sharpied hand outline and the words "Me love pussy" written on it.

Trump has all the tools to rocket to the top of the bad presidents list. But until he actually invades a country for no reason, costing us diplomatic influence, trillions of dollars, and countless lives while setting up the rise of further terrorism and destabilization in the region and to boost the regional power of our rival, he'll always be a also ran.

The Iraq war wasn't the worst thing in American history, but it was definitely the worst completely pointless thing.

Obama tacitly endorsed the war in Yemen in that he disnt cry out to end it. A few months before he left office he was blocking arms sales to KSA. Then a few months after Trump took office a very large arms deal went through, which the white house celebrated, pointing out that Obama had been against it.

And now over a year after the fact, the war’s going just great and totally doesn’t suck for civilians, the KSA forces, and UAE forces!

Even if you don’t consciously want tour intel to be fake, if you yell at intel workers about how theyre failing to find evidence of WMDs for months or years, by god they’ll find a way to tenuously connect dots and provide you some semblance of causus belli.

The original planning team for Iraq was convinced we’d be down to like 15,000 troops by about Christmas.

The military and state department just assumed everyone in Iraq would immediately chill out, rebuild, and create a working government.

Thats Christmas after the spring offensive.

Guys, we did it! We solved the dying Earth problem. Now we 200 space-based tech bros can hang in this spaceship. Look, we all wanted windows, but the designs were behind schedule and windows are a luxury. Don’t worry about the space madness and the backlog on 3D-printed flesh-lights and anime pillows.
