Since the second half of season 4. He became disillusioned with super science during his internship and then became emo Dean who hates super science and his dad at the start of 5 when he found out he and Hank were clones.

It pisses me off to an INSANE degree that it’s the Brown Widow and not the Brown Recluse because:

A) it’s a real spider
B) he’s not a Widow, he’s not even a Wife!
C) he is actually depicted as somewhat reclusive

but if I had to guess it’s a run on the subtheme of people having no idea about their themes or namesakes

Brown Widows are real, and they're actually becoming a pretty big problem...on the West Coast. He's even got the hourglass right as it's more orange on the Brown Widow than red, but yeah, only the females have that marking.

It's a pity that Mommy Longlegs bought the farm - he'd likely have good chemistry with her, and she could tell him what an idiot he is.

I don't know how well it jives with the rest of what we've learned in this season so far, but the idea popped into my head of Jonas doing the Batman Beyond thing and replacing Blue Morpho's genetic material with his own. I dunno, Dean certainly seems to be coming into his own. That he shows absolutely no fear of the Monarch, but just sheer annoyance, and in the room with three people who are utterly sick of supervillains he's the most effective in getting the Monarch to go away just with a bribe.

As much as Hank is cunning and entrepreneurial, Dean continues to show a remarkable degree of common sense just physically moving away from the clusterfuck that is his family legacy.

Also, a nod that the Ventech HQ should by all rights be condemned from the semi-supernatural shenanigans. (interestingly, no news on whether Action Man survived his stroke. Would be a fitting but sad cop-out given getting him to the hospital was a remarkable display of cooperation between old and new and magic and super-science.)

Entmann was part of the group back then too though, there's the flashback with him in his giant form (which looks like Andre the Giant) and a mind-controlled Triple Threat.

I think there's an implication that being shrunken extended his lifespan.

This episode was fantastic. It really seems as if they're finally going full Marvel Comics with their universe and storytelling. In the book Publick says that in the beginning he was afraid to go all-in on that feel because he had just come from both The Tick shows which were full-on superhero worlds, but also mentioned that with modern audience's newfound familiarity with shared universes means they can go that direction. I'm in, frankly.

What do you mean by "somehow?" It's not like it takes a superscientist to pull the ol' switcheroo with a vial of white goo that isn't visually distinct from any other similar vial of white goo. Here's one likely scenario:

"Well, Morpho, lookie here, it's your sample! It should be easy to boost the... say, is that Scaramantula behind you??" Then the Morpho looks, and as he does, Jonas switches that vial with his own "sample."

Ghost Leviathan posted:

That's probably true, but Jonas didn't have to be a master geneticist to swap out Morpho's DNA from his sperm and then add in his own, because that's just not necessary to get the desired effect. Here's one likely scenario:

"Well, Morpho, lookie here, it's your sample! It should be easy to boost the... say, is that Scaramantula behind you??" Then the Morpho looks, and as he does, Jonas switches that vial with his own "sample."

And all of this is purely academic anyway, seeing as how in the flashback, Jonas only asks for the Morpho to have his wife swing by the compound. That would seem to indicate (or at least heavily imply) that the Morpho himself didn't come over; only his wife did for a "treatment" of "potent science."

Jonas switching sperm or genetic wouldn't make sense in the least bit. He even tells the Morpho that it's rarely the man's fault. That's why he needs to evaluate his wife to boost her fertility.

Jonas hosed the dude's wife. It's painfully obvious, and anything else is way over thinking it.

That's kind-of my point: it doesn't take superscience to knock up a chick. I was riffing with the whole sperm thing simply because someone else brought it up and seemed to suggest that it would require some level of expertise to do what Jonas did... and it doesn't, and that's assuming that they went through the trouble of doing samples and artificial insemination.

But, Jonas saying that it's rarely the man's fault doesn't mean that Jonas thinks that's true. Remember, lines of dialog spoken by fictional characters aren't always canon.

If we didn't see confirmation on screen then the jury should probably still be out, the writers love to throw us curveballs as established. But nothing's really off the table with Jonas, dude was a scienced-up psychopath with a very poor idea of what constitutes friendship.
