BRAWNY BUTTONS 4 LYFE
So they just need to make 2m more shirt sales to break even on the deal... and manage the same every year for the length of Cronald's contract

I thought clubs made gently caress all off of shirt sales and people were just speculating over that.

Doesn't that depend on whether the club has the capacity to sell the shirts in China?

No, like I've said he's clearly some sort of weird autist, it's that it surprises anyone at all that I felt worth comment.

Yeah, it's bollocks.

Yeah, as explained by people like SwissRamble who know about the business of football, clubs don't make money for each shirt sold. Instead they sign a deal for x million with Nike, Adidas or whoever, and that's it for them.

Of course, if Nike or Adidas end up selling a billion Ronaldo shirts, Juve may have a stronger negotiating position on the next go around, and it's also possible the SwissRamble got it wrong but there you go.

I think they might get a cut of sales (depending on the deal and where they're sold from, of course), but what is always left out of these stats is that the majority of these fans would have bought a new shirt anyway, but just all get them at the same time and get the new player's name on their shirt. Juve may have sold 500k shirts, but that's not 500k extra sales.

Ron Ron's impact on Juve's wages

I don't think they really care that much. Just heard about this:

Ronaldo set for Turin debut as Juventus break billion-euro mark on stock exchange

that article posted:

Juventus's shares have grown 55.15 percent on the stock exchange since July 1, increasing from 0.660 euro to 1.024 euros.

"The rise peaked this summer, starting in June, when the first information about the possible arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo began circulating," noted Calcio e Finanza.

The one thing they do make money off is printing the name on the back of the shirts if they're bought at the club shop - it's like a quid a letter plus a fiver for the number and almost pure profit.

Still doesn't pay back the wages apart from the five shirts that Celtic sold for Jan Vennegor of Hesselink.
