the county commissioner's meeting got broken up early because this dude was down there hollering about the new property tax and how the commissioners are all rich guys but the tax wouldn't affect any of them i feel like maybe the time is here to create the south georgia dsa

i do think it's a mistake to trivialize the difficulty of meaningful anti-imperialist action in american politics.it will probably be harder to intentionally diminish the empire and disentangle the MIC than it will be to build a really good welfare state, at least imo

They're rightly criticizing (although in a very clumsy way) the distribution of common needs through taxes (circulating money). And how that requires market competition, which incentivizes national/collective policies that build up to imperialism. It's ridiculous to criticize attempts (of varying degrees of success) to reduce the impact of market competition without at least mentioning an alternative! Their tweet would be better if they advocated for ALSO having marketless labor remuneration alongside the usual welfare stuff more typical of today.

Last week we roasted a bunch of corn and fed folks while laughing at a bunch of less than stellar fascists who came spoiling for a fight. They mostly just stood on the pavement and baked for three hours while we hung out in the shade. The fascists, primarily from "The Hiwaymen" even had a poor dog, and got more angry than at anything else when one of our medics were concern trolling them over getting it water. It wasn't a DSA event but we brought down and cooked the food, about two dozen of us made the drive over. Free higher education is an investment and will start paying for itself in no more than five years. Once you get people on board with one point of the DSA program, and, and this is important, receptive to socialism being cheaper, you can bring up MFA, which will return 200+ billion dollars to the economy every year. At that point you have people on board for two major socialist positions, the rest should be easy.

Do they do good things? locally they are mostly involved as individuals in our education and labor committees though there are a couple in conflict resolution as well and a smattering of other committees. they are working on strengthening ties with organized labor, trying to organize tenant councils, and establishing some non-binding chapter points of unity. our local refoundation seems like an outlier based on online, but literally all the caucuses seem bad by online, so either ours are unusually good or online is just really good at bringing attention to the worst of everything.
