One of the people involved in Synereo started a spinoff called Rchain. Rchain is still around, worth a retarded amount of money and rumor has it some of the people involved in bigger projects worth even more money are sniffing around it.

The thread itself spawned a lot of other threads making fun of eripsa that lasted for years. A sample post from the last page of one such thread in early 2015:

Every single idea mentioned in this post has been ICOd for retarded amounts of money, some multiple times.

None of the products built on these ideas have any users because most of them really are that dumb, so the result is many billions of IRL dollars spent on things goons were deconstructing for fun years ago.

What I’m trying to say here is that we thought cefte was a funny man making jokes but it turned out he was just a Cassandra impotently howling into the void.

market caps aren't real value, or representative in any way of actual money that's gone into or been extracted from butts

anyways the thing that sucks about being Cassandra is that it was her family and husband who refused to believe her and doomed themselves and an entire nation. if Cassandra had been prophesying that a bunch complete idiots and spergy pseudo-intellectuals would make a catastrophic financial blunder, she might have said

also Cassandra might have something prophetic to say about the vicissitudes of fortune for people who made a ton of money off ICO "investors". taking out a bank loan for a million dollars doesn't make you a millionaire.

They are essentially just gambling tokens with a heavy dose of manipulation. These sites are lending legitimacy to the least legitimate place to put your money.

Their nature is irrelevant, things are worth what people believe they're worth. I want crypto to fail too because of the sort of people that believe in it currently, but if the average joe starts believing in it, it's game over man.

Obviously if crypto gets big enough, the big players will step in and it will basically just become regular money

People also believe in blackjack. If bloomberg put a blackjack ticker up on their website, innocent people might start thinking it's a reasonable retirement strategy.

That doesn't make sense because blackjack is a game and cryptocurrency is an asset. Moreover, should Bloomberg only report and track assets that are expected to appreciate? That doesn't make any sense either.

During the housing bubble innocent (stupid) people were buying 2nd and 3rd houses or sight-unseen condos in sketchy developments. Should bloomberg have stopped covering the real estate market?

Bloomberg has produced a ton of skeptical cryptocurrency content and in particular has been the most dedicated outlet at looking at the exchanges and their completely irregular, unregulated operating methods. I got no problem with them serving it all up in a link under their masthead.

September 6th is the five year anniversary of the launch of dogecoin. Nothing is going to happen.

I missed this the first time around.

Dogecoin is having a hard fork on September 6th and apparently anyone who holds dogecoin will receive that many "Dogetherium" coins. This is causing a rush of people to buy Doge expecting Dogetherium to actually not be worthless.

Doge held steady for a long time at 1/4th of a penny but has doubled in the past day or so to be worth half a penny.

So all of the titans of industry are stocking up on as many Dogecoin as possible. It should be funny when the worm turns on this one.
