* Please read entire post before contacting me *

Looking into interest on my 1991 Nissan 300ZX that has been engine swapped with a forged Chevrolet V8 6.0 Iron Block LS (LQ4) built for boost with a turbo running on E85. The car was originally a Twin Turbo 2+0 coupe model and in January 2017, I decided to work with some friends on swapping it for an LS. From there, the process began and parts were picked based on being the best option. I'm beginning to lose motivation to finish it and would rather sell it to get a GTR. Up to this point, there is around $24,000 in parts and work installed for this swap with all receipts and detailed notes in a binder. Engine was assembled during the swap process and in total, the swap has been in for around 1700 miles now. Currently running an idle tune on wastegate pressure (~8psi). See BUGS section for immediate work needed to get a full driving tune.

I'm not in a rush to sell it as eventually I'll get the motivation back to finish it, but figured it's a good time to play with the idea of cutting my losses to get what's next.

It can be drove home. I have a listing of all parts and part numbers in an Excel file.

***** BASIC INFO *****
- Chassis: 1991 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo Coupe (2+0), ~120k miles on chassis, rust free. Two owner car originally.
- Engine: 6.0L Chevrolet LQ4 Iron Block (~370ci), Bored .030", Forged internals, custom turbo cam (Crane Cams), LS9 head gaskets

- Fuel System: Dual Walbro 450 E85 fuel pumps, E85 fuel with idle tune, new -12an feed/-8an return fuel lines
- ECU: Holley HP EFI ECU with LSx Harness, Holley/Bosch 120lb (1260cc) injectors, GReddy Profec II Boost Controller
- Turbo Kit: CXRacing LS1/240sx GT45 dual-wastegate turbo kit, modified to fit this swap
- Cooling: Griffin Radiator and dual fans (25.5" x 15.5" x 2.25")

I think he might have blown a turbo on an early build so he was still ironing things out which is why he went with a cheaper option. He gets a lot of poo poo for the wheels, I have no explanation for those. He told me this morning he knows if he sells it before finishing it he'll regret it forever but he doesn't think he's mentally built to continue with project cars anymore. This project might never have happened if he hadn't been t-boned in his then brand new Evo.

That price is too high even for Australia and oh boy are the prices high here for anything worth putting back onto the road. An unknown, maybe screwed up m54 engine added alongside the car does not add much to the value, so there's no feeling of "filled to the brim with German power" here. It's a $500 car or wrecking for parts only car if I ever saw one, and I know of e30 tax - but you can get a better one for 2000.

E: also that took me a while to find as while iron county I quickly learned was in Mi, gently caress CL for auto directing at every click to aussie CL, and also I had no idea what area best summed up Irons - NW or north didn't work https://nmi.craigslist.org/cto/d/1984-bmw-318i/6671807977.html

quote:

A true classic of the Porsche world, these cars have been gaining value over the last few years as it is harder to find good examples of them.

This car has just a sliver over 62k miles, and consistently turns heads where ever it goes. Oddly, I was recognized by a few people as "that guy with the red porsche" around town.

It comes in the classic Guards Red, and is a rare model to not have a sun roof (SCCA people will recognize that as being a more attractive model as the weight distribution is perfect), with the 5 speed manual working in tandem with the torque-y 2.5L inline 4 producing 147 hp.

Here's some quick comparison's for you. The 1984 Corvette with a V8 engine produced 205 hp, weighed 3300 lbs, and a 4 speed manual at 124 hp per ton. The 944 came in with 60 less hp, weighed 700 lbs lighter, had a German 5 speed and a power to weight ratio of 111 hp per ton! And, if you elected to do the V8 swap that a minority of people are doing with this classic car, you are looking at 300 hp on the stock axle and weight savings of about 20 lbs. Do you really want a power to weight ratio of 232hp per ton, that's crazy talk.

So, what are the pro's and con's with this car?

Well, let's start with the negative to get it out of the way.

1. These cars has one stage paint, so there are some rock chips. This has all been filled in and detailed by the lovely people at Sweetcars.
2. The classic cracked dash. You could shell out a few hundred for a new one, or cover it up. Or, like a chunky girl, flaunt those "tiger stripes" cause you're a "tiger mom" and it shows how you've grown as a person. Or inflated. Either/or.
3. Tear in the arm rest. Yes, this is a simple fix. "why haven't you done it then?" "WHY SHOULD I TAKE THE JOY AWAY FROM YOU, NEW OWNER, TO FIX SOMETHING AND FEEL A CONNECTION TO YOUR LOVELY NEW PORSCHE"
4. There is an area around the gas cap that has the paint damaged due to a gas spill. It's unnoticeable unless you are looking down on it.

Now, let's get into the real positives. Since I've owned it, I wanted to turn from the Garage Queen it had been since 1986 and only driven to work on Fridays and a sometimes week end car, to maybe drive it multiple times a week, I don't know, I shoot from the hip.

1. Replaced the following; Oil Pump (taken from a bulletproof Turbo model), Oil Pressure Relief Valve, Fuel Pump, Water Pump, Belts/Tensioners, Oil Gauge in the Cabin, Radio (it has bluetooth and usb hookups, welcome to 2012 944!)
2. Upgraded the following; Spray the entire underside of the car - this was done prior to my purchase many moons ago, but I had it checked over and reapplied if necessary, Throttle Response Cam
3. A gentleman in a really nice Audi V10 said it looked "real nice" and offered to drag race. I declined.

If you have questions - let me know! I'm moving shortly and don't need to take 3 cars, and unfortunately this gets the least amount of use of my vehicles.

Depending on where it was first registered you can get away with a lot, epsecially on something probably registered as a 68 VW. Hell guy may have registered it before the conversion and just never dealt with going through inspection and stuff.

The locost is registered as a 1964 Lotus replica. It passed inspection in Missouri never having wipers or reverse lights.

I know for a fact that there's at least one body shop around me that has no idea how wiring works. Sometimes a car will hit the brakes and its reverse lights will come on with the brake lights. Doesn't matter the year, make, or model, it just happens randomly and is terrifying at a stoplight

How much do you want to bet "freshly rebuilt" means a couple new gaskets, with spark plugs and wires? I haven't talked to a mechanic who has recommended an actual rebuild, since a new engine is almost always cheaper
