Cassia puts out dumb amounts of damage right now. Even though it was a losing effort due to a sylv that quit right after the first chest drop on BHB, I accounted for 72% of my team's total damage and 6 out of its 7 (I know, I know) total kills. It was a bad game the other team entirely dominated but watching our team flail while I was still killing the poo poo out of people felt good.

The next game I had a semi-competent team and we dominated the poo poo out of the other guys and it felt better.

This game is perfect for empty-headed dunces that don't like to think much!! Of course, I'm a genius... I wonder why I'm so good at it?!
I won't be surprised if she gets a bit of a nerf but I think she largely goes unnoticed because a lot of her damage isnt flashy so people don't really take note of it until its too late. Cassia rules. I know lightning ball is the go to ult for her but I really like Valkyrie. Its served me really well having a good way to just pick the hell out of someone on their backline.

Cassia is extremely versatile because she has reliable/effective poke on top of being able to finish effectively via Fend. I would say that her only real weakness is that she suffers from Best Build Syndrome.

Whats the consensus on Ragnaros and Fenix? I'm tempted to pick them up because they look interesting. I don't care if they aren't the absolute best ranged Assassins, just so long as they aren't garbage.

What happens if you build an entire comp around Cassia, like with all the heroes that give blinding effects, Johanna, Lili and I don't remember who else.

Fenix is a top tier hero. Rag's winrate in HL is about 50% and is as popular as the other off-meta melee assassins (Kerrigan, malthael, illidan, etc). Like Alex, all of his abilities are kind of lovely to balance out his really powerful trait.

He's more powerful than his overall winrate suggests because a lot of inexperienced players slam pick him on Braxis expecting easy wins.

Fenix is first pick/ban. Ragnaros struggles a bit in the current meta considering he is a melee assassin but he can still get some value with his waveclear and trait. On Braxis and tomb in particular.

I just had a game with her where I went with what I assume is a fairly standard auto build, but I took the quest where you get damage on kills, and it all clicked into place. Doing little skirmish hit and runs, I'd bait people into all-inning me, and then just nope away, and my team would finish them off. Like, realising that assists count and playing to that made it SO much easier, and then once that quest gets online she becomes a loving annoying murder flea. Her ult is like the ultimate 'gently caress you' most of the time too, because it's always when someone thinks they've finally got you figured out and thinks they can toe to toe you, and then you just drop a bomb and peace out. Lol times.

Having come back to the game after 2 years away, the new hero that to me seems the most OP (in QM at least) has been Genji. Ridiculous mobility and damage. I can tell he would be hard to play and I would suck at him, but I've seen some Genji's completely wreck my team.

Raynor also seems crazy OP now. I last played him before any rework and kind of liked him for a low-attention kind of match, but he just seems too stupidly strong now and I mean stupid in every sense. His damage is high but he has far too much survivability for a Ranged Assassin IMO.

Those are the two that have stuck out in my limited experience. There are a whole bunch of heroes I haven't even seen though. eg Stukov, Fenix and Dehaka I have only seen when I picked them in Brawl or this week's free rotation. It seems a little weird.

Raynor is OP yes (especially in QM) and Genji can often be OP in QM.

Fenix is also op in QM but he's boring. Dehaka I really enjoy but playing him into all ranged assassins in QM can make you feel really useless.

Right now there's a disturbingly high correlation between "borderline op/hgc viable heroes" and "heroes released or reworked in the last year". Not sure what the long term plan is.

They've said there was a shift in design philosophies away from hard counterpicking and towards more generalist heroes with more emphasis on talent choice.

The problem with Fenix is that he isn't terribly flashy. He is a fantastic sustain DPS but doesn't make big plays like some others do.

Yes, Raynor is crazy powerful right now. They will probably leave him like that for a while after he spent forever languishing with other bottom-tier heroes.

Stukov is complicated to play, but he's definitely one of the better supports out there right now. Like Fenix, he isn't flashy but has great sustain (and he hits like a truck if you dive him). His silence is great for keeping dudes like Genji and Greymane in range long enough to finish them off, too.

Dehaka is the 3rd best offlaner right now, he's not a tank but people try to use him as one which I think accounts for his lower popularity in HL. His biggest advantage is his global mobility, which people aren't going to use effectively most of the time, especially in wood league.

And yeah, there's a reason Genji gets banned A LOT. IMO dive heroes with his mobility are not good for the game, but Blizz doesn't seem interested in nerfing him at all. There was a Genji/Abathur game in the Open Division playoff last night; if you think one of him is OP, wait until you see two of him every team fight. (Necrodancers vs. Scythe, game 2 I think, whichever one was BoE).

Stukov looks a little too complicated for me (and I don't play supports if I can help it) but I really like Fenix and after a few games with Dehaka I am getting a liking for him too. I've always been terrible with what I would call high-micro melee Assassins like Genji. But I still like something a little more interactive than Raynor. At least Fenix has a toggle on his AA to play about with.

Turns out making characters that are good in general instead of rat-loving them into being a hard counter results in popular and effective characters.

I've watched this dozens of times, and I still giggle every time. That first week before any nerfs hit my RL friend group was just rolling through QM partnered with Arthas and a healer. Just roll up and murder Cho'Gall/Morales combos like it ain't no thang. Then rotate so somebody else gets to be Raynor. 4thand 5th can play LITERALLY WHATEVER, doesn't matter. Wanna learn Abathur? Go for it!

Also yeah Genji will remain forever brokenfucked on some level until they do something about the fact that he scores "best of" in at least three different extremely valuable categories. He needs a back-to-the-drawing-board tier overhaul that radically re-imagines his kit because right now he's toxic as hell and no amount of nerfs will change that.

We're all going to experience changes in our life but only the best of us will qualify for front row seats.

The Athena announcer (Overwatch) costs 8k gold instead of shards. I don't think it has enough personality to be worth that, but that's interesting.

Also, the Diablo heroes bundle is great if you only didn't own Deckard Cain yet. 302 gems, better than waiting for a weekly 50% off deal (that would be 375 gems). That dynamic pricing is why it doesn't have Mephisto, I guess.
