I will describe it because it's hard to make out (and also you may not want to watch it). Two cars caught each other going down the front stretch and slid into the infield area of the track, where one of them sideswiped a fully exposed tree. His car disintegrated and basically kept going through the tree. The driver (his body) hit the tree full-on, bouncing off of it, after which point it rag-dolled over the other car onto the grass.

A completely exposed tree on the outside of a corner 2. A rollcage not strong enough to withstand a medium/low-speed impact with said tree 3. A racing harness not strong enough to keep the driver seated in the accident 4. A poorly fastened helmet which flew off instantly, providing no driver protection ...at least it didn't catch fire, I guess?

So the biggest shitshow i've ever seen in the history of motorsport is currently happening at the Barcelona 24 hours. I forget who it was but there was a moment in F1 a few years back at Barcelona where one of the marshalls sprayed himself in the face with the extinguisher and the driver had to put the car out himself.

It reminded me of the Simona De Silvestro incident at Texas, but this is levels of incompetence above that. It's like halfway through the marshalls just  and gave up and walk away, then first fire truck pulls up and just points a hoseat the car and looks mistified that nothing is happening, and just continues in a Fawlty Tower's-esque way until there's pretty much nothing left of it ^^^ Edit: yes! I thought the same thing

Goodwood Revival is also on this weekend. The race fan in me loves seeing older racing machinery still put through its paces, but the classic car guy in me cringes seeing some of these cars crumpled or in the odd case destroyed.
