Something about how the cops have to let time pass for the investigation before they can make any arrests. You know, just like if I shot my neighbor to death and then said "Oopsie Poopsie, I did a Shootsie" they wouldn't arrest me immediately.

Yeah, actually, most states you can hold someone 24-72 hours before having to actually arrest and charge them, and charges regarding death are only brought after consulting with the local prosecutor. Nothin like having to explain to your eyewitness that the D isn't gonna prosecute so we are gonna release the perpetrator in the next hour so you should probably find a motel or something good luck and also you dont qualify for safety assistance because technically you aren't a witness in a case

You've got to be kidding. Any jurisdiction in the US, if you're standing over a dead body that's the owner of the home you're in, you're getting arrested on the spot. Unless of course you're a police officer.

I think people are failing to understand the distinction between "you aren't leaving this police station but the DA hadn't decided on charges yet so technically this isn't an arrest" and "what ho miscreants I place handcuffs upon thee thought art under arrest"

If a cop puts you in handcuffs and won't let you leave or they'll shoot you, you've been arrested practically if not technically legally, hth

Yes. If she’s being held in a holding cell at the PD, it would be good to know. The Dallas PD could save themselves some ire by making that clear that she’s being treated like anyone else if she is, instead of saying she’s on leave.

Usually you don't get stuck in a holding cell, you're in a interview room and everybody kinda dances around the fact you aren't allowed to leave you know in the first 48 when they have people bored out of their skills in the room but they aren't handcuffed and aren't leaving? Basically that.

Looking at all the cops who murdered and walked all these times over the past few decades and just assuming the same story that always happens will happen again is being a "reactionary clown boat" Smiling Jack, in a DR logical beep boop way everyone knows that not all cops are bad, but the only reason cops get a bad image is because of bad cops and this whole thin blue line circle the wagons punisher logo poo poo isn't doing y'all any favors. Does anyone in your perfect department think police reform is needed or what is the issue here? Unfair reporting?
