I think the panzerfaust damage to tanks is fine alone but it’s a real game changer now that people don’t show up on the minimap when shooting. Combined with the slow turret traverse speed, yes I think tanks need some tweaks before release. However, neither of the beta maps are ideal for armor.

Hopefully in the next beta we see a map with a larger vehicle footprint. I want to see jeeps and motorcycles flying all over the place. The halftracks were cool (although I hope they are just giving the German half track to the Allied side as a beta placeholder). I enjoyed the beta but I did not necessarily get that “battlefield” feel of combined arms chaos

Yeah I think I got like one roadkill with the Kettenkrad, really hoping they add something a little more nimble. Sometimes I spend entire BF4 matches just whizzing around the map in a jeep seeing how many people I can run over, I need that in BFV too please.

BF4 was a drat great game but hell if it wasn't broken as gently caress at release. That teached me to not preorder more :dice: games ever. More so when they'll get a discount during christmas after release and hopefully one or two patches. I'll end getting BFV like BF1 but not without waiting a bit.

Watching some impressions from the beta (ignoring the reee SJWs ruining western civilizationvideo games!!! crap) and I agree with a couple common complaints but the one I have thoughts on are the weapon upgrades.

I didn't think on it at the time since I only had a limited run with the beta but I really dislike the weapon upgrade system. I'm playing 1 again and things are just quicker and snappier with the weapons. Bolt action reload speed is dependent on the weapon, drum LMGs have longer reload than ones with small magazines, ect. Compared to 5 where the reload animation for those were slow and ponderous, with the handy "faster reload speed" upgrade being in the tree somewhere for you to grind out and use currency for. It adds a different rhythm to the game, to be sure, but I'd rather those be things you change with attachments to your weapons that you get and keep. It'd be more fun to have loadouts for your weapon rather than having multiple copies of the same weapon going down boring, essential upgrade paths.

I do miss being able to build fortifications and crouch sprint in 1, that's for sure.

A lot of the design changes are split in terms of reaction. When it comes to ammo changes, squad-only revive, tank changes and such... some people like it and some people don't. But the progression is different. I haven't seen anyone say they like it, it seems to be more or less universally unpopular.

imo the progression stinks and they shouldn't do it that way!!!

True, but I can see where he's coming from. BF1 didn't have XP boosts when it released, did it? But it does now!

BF4 had lootboxes and XP boosts and you could ignore them. Same happens in BF1, as long as lootboxes are unintrusive I'm ok with them.

No lootboxes, but they will almost almost certainly sell currency doublers/packs because EA's gotta get theirs somehow. And the difference between BF5 and those last two games is that the ingame currency is used for everything; from cosmetics to very real weapon upgrades. And from the beta alone, it looks like there's a lot of them, and with no money coming in from a Premium Pass, you bet they'll want to make sure the grind is arduous because, hey, you can speed it up for just a few dollars more!

Noctone

They’ve said over and over again that there will be no p2w and cosmetics are going to be the only thing you can spend money on. If they do an about-face on that then they might as well shutter the company doors because the backlash would be an order of magnitude worse than Battlefront II.

I just hope the cosmetics stay the realm of sanity. I don't like them, but I can at least handle idiot wannabe spec ops characters with multiple goggles, going into battle with a tank top and a bushy beard or whatever. But what takes me right out of game is when you have garish, obnoxious neon weapon paints, or other overtop flashy bullshit. Think Call of Duty/Gears of War neon fluorescent gun paints, or those ridiculous "ambient" effects from For Honor with cherry petals and flame effects just bursting into existence.

I hate that poo poo and I hope they realize it has no place here.

I’m not sure what level of cosmetics they were originally planning on but they’ve already decided to tone them down.

Aside from the usual :dice:, have they gone into detail as to why you can't upgrade or buy weapons from the menus in a match like you can BF1? Quitting a match in V doesn't take 8 years on console, so maybe that has something to do with it?

They're working on letting you access all that stuff mid-match, no idea if they'll fix their abhorrent menus for release tho.

That’s good. I’m excited for the race and gender customization but the uniform stuff was off putting. The medic and support masks were cool looking but felt out of place. And I don’t get Dice’s obsession with blue face paint. I think it can be toned down a bit while still having lots of options. Plenty of different uniforms to choose from still. Even the same unit could vary from year to year.

Honestly I don’t understand why people give a poo poo about cosmetics, I’m not looking at the fine details of someone’s outfit as I’m pumping them full of lead.

In prior Battlefields it's because you could quickly tell an enemy's class from its visual profile alone. See a guy wearing a bush? He's a sniper, go kill him. See a guy wearing a cape? He's a sniper, go kill him.

What I'm saying is, kill all snipers.

I guess for some people? I've put hundreds of hours into every BF game since Bad Company 2, and I've never once thought to try and determine what class an enemy was before shooting them. In 99% of instances, you don't have to time to look over every enemy in front of you and carefully determine the class of each, and then determine which to shoot first.

I mean, if you are talking about a game like Overwatch, where target priority makes a difference, then sure. But this is Battlefield. It doesn't really matter if you shoot the support or the assault guy in front of you first. They are both going to be shooting at you, and unless you are much better than them both, whichever one you don't kill first should probably kill you.

Geneva Convention or no I'm pretty sure that if "medical personnel" have guns they aren't protected anyway.

For the authentic WWII experience BFV needs unarmed medics that penalize the other team if they get shot.

I would play the poo poo out of a medic class that can freely go around and help out their fallen comrades

I mean maybe I’m just not galaxy brain enough but ime if people are close enough that I can tell what class they are then they’re also close enough that I don’t have time to prioritize targets based on class. Only exception being that if I’m in a tank then yeah I’ll take out the AT soldier(s) first.
