For all the "Ow, the edge!" accusations it gets (not completely unfounded, mind you) plus the schlockiness, I feel that Future Diary is OK if you like Death Game / Battle Royale-type manga/anime.

Theres one about a game that operates under the werewolf rules and after the protaganist wins as a villager and the series ends the sequel has her and the other survivor in a new werewolf death game but these time they're the wolfs. Went to so many weird and fun places, and the original run ending was hilarious It's the only thing I can think of in recent years that just dumped all its characters to focus on an entirely new cast where I ended up completely okay with it.

It was a really beautiful anime, visually, and it had some really cool stuff and a neat premise. I just wish it had executed on that better... The end of the first episode is such a dramatic hook, it had everyone talking back when the show was airing
