These are for midcentury ladies' parties, to be eaten with knife and fork so you don't get the goopy stuff on your gloves.

The Saga

Sandwich cakes (we literally call them that - "smörgåstårta") is an extremely common thing over here in Swedenland. Apparently it's a Swedish enough thing that the English Wikipedia page just straight up uses the Swedish name for it. According to the Swedish wiki page, it was invented here in Sweden in the 1940s. So there you go.

Originally some society matron wanted to make absolutely certain none of her guests would dare eat with her hands, so she told her cook to make sure the sandwiches could not be consumed without PPE.

I doubt any of these have the taste they're describing, but chugging liquid wasabi still seems like a bad idea.

The "kimchi" one is labeled "chili oil flavor" in Japanese (ra-yu). That's the stuff in the little bottle on the table at ramen shops. Still not pleasant as a ramune, but also quite distinct from kimchi flavor.

I think you'd die if you tried injecting pasta. Drugs go into the veins, delicious food goes into the face holes.

That "mix pasta inside the giant cheese wheel" thing is a trend, right? It's not a traditional method of preparing pasta dating back decades or centuries?

Right?

Last time it came up, someone mentioned that it's a pretty old as gently caress practice for making cheese sauces and stuff on the regular with as little waste as possible. It's just that it's gotten big more recently in the US as a presentation thing.
