I don't follow this stuff closely but I think OnePlus is just another middling tier Android maker. I don't think they're noted for being much better at any of the things most Android makers are generally bad at. Right now, if a person was looking at a non-Pixel Android, I'd suggest looking at some of the HMD "Nokia" phones that promise proper monthly security updates and 2 years of OS updates. wasn't there some goon a while back who downloaded cyanogenmod nightly builds onto their phone every night. and they defended it with the logic "oh but it just does it while i'm sleeping". why yes fellow goon, this is a normal behavior, to download untested critical cell phone code every day that's pushed out by volunteers
