You have been a most worthy adversary, but in every game, there are winners and there are losers. And as you know, in this game, losers get robotizicized!
i like NTR but the developments in spotted flower are out of nowhere. like nidaime it feels written just for the purpose of continuing the plot without being a natural progression, because the writer backed himself into a corner. i stopped reading SF and only completed nidaime because i just wanted to check it off my list

Okay I need to quote this from a year ago because I'm pissed. Pissed about Genshiken's sequels and spinoffs.

I recently re-read all of Genshiken. The original manga, the first 9 volumes, was sooo good. The humor was good, the relationships mostly realistic, and the ending was nicely done.

The sequel, Genshiken Nidaime, was terrible. All the realism and careful character development of the first series was gone, replaced by harem bullshit with a deus ex machina ending. Now I remember why I only skimmed through the last few chapters of Nidaime back when it ended.

And then, of course, there's this horrible spinoff called Spotted Flower as shown above, which started off as a cute what-if scenario involving expys of the Genshiken characters. I stopped reading it right before chapter 20 because it came out really slowly. But as part of re-reading Genshiken, I caught up on the rest of the chapters of Spotted Flower. WHAT THE HELL. It devolved into terrible rage-inducing NTR crap, as Mikl describes. Which is why I presume Spore dropped it and only some Italian dude is translating.

Below is pretty much the only good part of Nidaime.

No I'm still on it just so distracted from scanlation in general I can only really keep up with one series at a time (which sounds stupid considering Spotted Flower is only like 8 pages every 3 months but hey I'm not the one making the rules)

fwiw I enjoyed most of Nidaime though I think it botched the ending pretty badly and I'm not against the current direction Spotted Flower is going, at least what I read of it, cos it makes sense to me that the husband would be suffering from crippling impostor syndrome and because he's a horribly maladjusted otaku he looks for release from it in unhealthy ways

If it was going anywhere towards him facing his awful decisions (for which OTHER PEOPLE will eventually suffer immense pain) and looking for redemption and possibly even seeking to solve his clearly massive amounts of self-loathing I would say sure go for it. Maybe it will eventually, but right now we're solidly in "not-Madarame you piece of poo poo" territory.

The current chapter being an extended WELL HOW WAS HE sex punchline isn't helping.

Count me among the seemingly few Nidaime likers, it's not as good as the original series but I enjoyed following the new characters in it. That said I would have liked to see more focus on Ogiue, either as club president or up and coming manga artist, and the stuff with Madarame deciding which girl to be with near the end dragged on for too long, but otherwise I don't have any major complaints. I've been meaning to give it and the original series a back-to-back reread one of these days.

I never read Spotted Flower and from the sound of recent developments I doubt I ever will at this point.

General Sherman: March to the Sea.
General Sherman finds himself reincarnated as the legendary hero destined the defeat the demon king. He can appraise anything with a GUI only he can see and the level measuring ball at the adventurer's guild exploded when he touched it. But when the time came to fulfill his destiny, he was distracted by . . . catfishgirl slavery! This is horrible! I will march to the sea, liberating all the catfishgirls! And so Sherman's everyday life is turned upside down.

There's only one thing in the mountains that leaves a track like this. The creature of legend that roams the Timberline. My people named him Sasquatch. You call him... Bigfoot.

That'd be Skeleton Knight in another world, which is basically reverse Overlord: Dude reincarnates into his OP MMO character and he's a skeleton, oh no (Because he was wearing a joke halloween cosmetic skin or something and the fantasy world is treating it as a curse, since the skin in the game was coded as a debuff.)

He retreats into his old RP persona to try and cope, except -his- RP persona is 'noble hero paladin' and after a few chapters of general do-gooding he hooks up with the elf abolition movement.

It's not great and is mostly just as trashy as every other example of the genre, but it's at least got that going for it.

It's not waking up as an overpowered endgame character, but there is the one where dude wakes up as an overpowered endgame sentient weapon and helps a slave solve the issue of her slavers.

Keyman has received it's final updates and with that the story comes to a close. It's really good and the last volume is a rollercoaster of things happening capped off with a good ending for all. Except Walter. And I guess Butler succeeded in finally getting back to God if only to be dissolved back into the ether.
It's not often that a manga has a good ending to match the rest of the runs quality. Also:

I'm not going to question how Alex and Sally were able to have kids. Not that whichever of them was impotent/barren was restored, but just the sheer logistics of a T-rex and catwoman boning down. At least their kids are healthy and happy in the future.

I'd definitely give this series a read if you haven't already.

I burned through Keyman this weekend and everything said about it was correct. Weird, a little offputting at times both in content and strange plot developments, but a very strong premise of DINOSAUR COP

I feel like the series glorified the early antagonist a little too much when it explored their motivation, and Alex didn’t really renew the condemnation of their actions, just kinda accepted it.

it would be cool if goblin slayer was added to the list of series verboten from being talked about in adtrw imo, the only thing it ever does is stir the pot and get people to go "well yeah there's rape, but..."

I don't think I've ever seen any discussion of it that wasn't preceded by really sketchy caveats about all the rape. "It's a very interesting fantasy setting, also lots of rape" "I like the main character, but there's a whole bunch of goblin rape"
