quote:

A secret watchlist that allows police to target children as young as nine is an “important community safety tool” and should be retained, a parliamentary review of the youth justice system in New South Wales has found.
The review has also recommended that the policy guiding how police operate the watchlist should be made available to the public.
The STMP is a NSW police list of people to follow around and harass several times a day. Half the people on the list are indigenous, many are children, and the criteria for being placed on the list are unknown.

quote:

A number of groups who appeared before the committee argued that police should not be able to put children on the watchlist. The committee rejected this suggestion, citing police advice that “a fair percentage” of crimes committed in NSW are committed by people under 18.

...

The report conceded that there was no public information evaluating how well the STMP prevents crime. However, it noted “feedback from police [local area commands] that the STMP is an effective crime prevention tool”.
The committee recommended that NSW Police introduces guidelines about the way in which children on the list are policed, “to limit confrontational practices and language and reduce the risk of unnecessary escalation".
Earlier this year, NSW Police gave evidence that the youngest person currently on the list was 13 years old.
NSW Police also gave evidence that children under 12 cannot be put on the watchlist without approval from the assistant commissioner. The committee said this age should be raised to 14.
Ah well if the police say it's alright then it's alright

What's this about Nazis liking Union though?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_league_in_France posted:

The invasion of France by Germany in May 1940 divided the country into Occupied France in the north and a southern pro-Nazi Vichy France, the latter of which roughly corresponded to the rugby-playing heartlands. The Vichy Government under Philippe Pétain associated rugby league with the pre-war socialist government, the United Kingdom and General Charles de Gaulle. Some of the French Rugby Union's senior administrators took advantage of their close relationship with the new regime to have rugby league outlawed as a "corrupter" of French youth.[6] All funds as well as grounds and equipment belonging to the French Rugby League Federation were confiscated and handed over to rugby union. The figure of assets stripped has been estimated at two million 1940 French francs, none of which was ever returned.[7] In addition, rugby league players were forced to switch to rugby union or other sports or quit sport altogether.

The federation was reinstated in September 1944, but the damage caused by the Vichy Government's actions proved to be long-lasting and rugby league struggled to regain its pre-war momentum.

Rugby literally conspired with Nazis to kill League.

AMWU told the ALP thst it's turning off the funding taps if they don't drop their support for the TPP. I expect other ALP aligned unions to follow.

I feel like this will be Shorten's last big opportunity to gently caress everything up before we slide into the election cycle.

Probably worth contacting your Labor representative and reinforce that nobody wants this lovely deal.
