APs are already pretty outrageous if you don't live in-state. I think they're at least $100 more than what I paid for one in 2016 and that was just the Platinum. Hope the hike is more in-state. Though, I was curious about Universal pricing, and looking around, single day tix there are still more expensive than single day MK - so I guess I can't complain too much...yet.

My problem with Universal is that it's seriously lacking in small kid appeal, I can't justify the ticket price to bring my family there when my kids can't or won't do many of the thrill rides and don't connect with most of the themed franchises (they know Minions... and Dr Suess?). If they made it so kids under 6 were free instead of just kids under 3 then now we're talking — but that will never happen. I'm at the point where I'd rather buy APs for Disney and do multiple trips in order to get value.

So I'm going to Trader Sam's, and I realized I've never been to a bar before. How do I order drinks and food, are you paying immediately after each order or a bill when you leave? Is there a waiter who gives to a table? Also drink recommendations for a persons who thinks whiskey tastes bad, Guinness tastes like a malta gone bad, Corona tastes like nothing, I think I was fine with Heineken at a party once and I liked a plum wine or sake in kendo class demonstration once?

The waiter will keep a tab for you and you can get the bill whenever you want. If you like a good tiki drink, you won't be disappointed with anything on the menu. Nothing there is alcohol forward. Just a lot of fruit flavors and rum.

I think the hippopatamaitai is the most efficient economically, but the zombie head can really get you messed up. Comedy answer: Nautilus or Uh'Oa for one.

Nautilus for one will absolutely do the trick. Not that I know or anything...It's obviously for 2 people but as long as you have someone with you, anything can be for one. I'm a big fan of the Polynesian Pearl but it's not for everybody.

Disney wasn’t as fun as it is in 2018 in 2006 so I’m fine with the price difference.

Whenever my work travel places me at a Disney resort I wonder why I get certain rooms or resorts. This time I'm at Beach Club and for the first time ever I'm on a club level. No idea why, thought that was for executives. Later that night I realized I'm right above the driveway entrance, bellhop, luggage stuff. drat noisy, I'd be upset if I spent all that money on a room and have it be that loud.

Club level isn't always just a location, it's extra amenities, like access to the club level lounge and nightly turn down service. That said, some of the resorts to contain their club level rooms to certain areas of the resort and others do not. It just depends on the resort. Some resorts do club level better than others.

It happens a lot too that rooms get upgraded for counts. Booked too many standard rooms, had to move someone up. I worked with a lady who got upgraded to the VP suite from a water view room since that was what needed to happen. Couldn’t say anything either since she hadn’t checked in yet and I didn’t want to disappoint her if they pulled it. Have a stormalong bay breeze for me. It’s probably my favorite of the lounge specialties. POG is up there too but you can get that a few places now.

Having done both carnival and Disney, while Disney is more expensive to get on the boat, everything is a lot cheaper once you're there. Alcohol was about double the price on carnival vs Disney in my experience. And the Disney ship experience is just better all around.

I’ve only done Royal Caribbean before and had great experience. I consistently hear that Carnival is bad and not worth the money you save, and that Disney is exactly as good as you’d expect, and just a matter of you deciding the high cost is worth it.

We're sailing on Royal Caribbean (Sunday!!!) for my second cruise ever, and part of the reason I've been avoiding Disney is because I know it'll ruin other cruise lines for me. Looks like we might have to hit up the NO sailings. I refuse to sail Carnival since I was working with DCL when they had that really lovely year so we kept hearing about it.

I sail Carnival a lot and it's really not bad at all. The price is right and I can be on a ship in 2 hours, door-to-door. I've sailed with Royal Caribbean as well, and while I think RCCL has better ships and the food is better, we like the entertainment better on Carnival. That said, Disney is by FAR my favorite cruise line. Love the ships, love the entertainment, sodas are included so you don't have to buy a soda package like on the other lines. Castaway Cay is amazeballs. I just really like cruising, though. If you're persnickety, you might not like Carnival. I am not persnickety.

Agreed on the entertainment part, but maybe more broadly. I’ve cruised on three different lines (none are Disney) and while Carnival is not the nicest, we had the most on-ship fun on Carnival.

My parents do Holland America (because they are old and like to travel the world) and I hopped on a Norway trip with dad last year. It was pretty sweet but I’d definitely want to do a RCCL or DCL to compare with more things open after 10pm.

Our RCCL ship seemed to shut down around 9:30 or 10 pm. They had a soft serve machine about by the pool that was supposed to be open til 9 pm, and most nights it was shut down before 8. It was a 7 night cruise and most nights we were back in our room and in bed by 10 because nothing was open. Pool was closed, no activities, no food, nothing. It was baffling.

Maybe it's just because I'm not into swimming or beaches, but cruises have just never done it for me. I know lots of people who are Wild for them and that's awesome. I just. I'd rather run off to that dude ranch adventure by disney, I guess.

Guess I haven’t been on every RCCL ship, but I have no idea what you want to do at 10pm that isn’t open? Comedy shows, bars, karaoke, dancing, game shows, trivia, casino, some food places (specifically, the pizza place they have on every ship is open 24/7), though understandably not all. To my knowledge, pools on every cruise line are closed late night.

If I remember right, there was a convention going on in the ship, and they had a couple of those rooms that are normally used for things like that booked for big parties. So the late comedy show ended at 9:30 or so. One night there was the adult game show and 80s trivia in the library, and we did enjoy that. The bars, casino, and pizza place were open, but mainly everything else was rolled up around 10, including the big shows on the main stage. We thought it strange too.
