I believe I have the actual rulebook at my house. What are you looking for?

I was just hoping for a full pdf of the thing (or at least just the rules). My friends and I are wanting to play the older editions, just to see what the game was like back in the day. I own a handful of 3rd codexes but have only ever used them in games of 4th.

Question for anyone that has knights.

Is it worth making the knight detachable from the base via magnets or something? Or does that not make it any easier to transport?

I haven't built mine yet, but I've started researching magnetization, and a few people recommend magnetizing where the torso meets the legs, so you can split it in half for travel.

Codex scans are a good reason to go to 4chan. Probably the only good reason. Yuck!

And you can fix that by just bookmarking all the repos they link and never bother with it again after that. So it's a win regardless.

Had my first 40k game after trying kill team. Didn't really know how to play. 1500 my deathguard vs his blood Angel's.

Killed nearly his entire army and quadrupled his points. He killed a plaguecaster of mine and a single plaguemarine.

Takeaways:
- always find a way to go first so you can murder the most dangerous things before your opponent can use them

- scouts are fun to kill

- making like no poo poo nearly every disgusting resiliant role is useful
- yes blight launchers
- the heavy blightlauncher for the bloatdrone seems better and murdering tanks than the auto hit option and the helbrute loving sucks and curses dice :[

- lord of contagion knows how to gently caress and it's hilarious with that artifact that reflects mortal wounds on saves
- your son's Thomas the tank engine set makes great terrain

- put your favorite models at the edge of the battlefield to mark its boundaries. Refer to them as coach and speak through them to passively aggressively criticize your buddy.

Check amazon. You can search by the ISBN which is 1869893190. I bought one a few months ago for $6.27 shipped.

Death Guard Day post time:

I went with a base of Screaming Skull with a loose pin-wash of Agrax Earthshade for the armor. I plan to add some streaks and leaking drips with Seraphim Sepia and then highlight with VGC Off-White. I'm stuck between doing a drybrush of it on raised areas or doing an edge highlight.

The dirty iron is Leadbelcher base followed by a thinned down coating of Typhus Corrosion and a full wash of Nuln Oil.

The smoke looks like garbage IRL, I did a white base and a yellow wash, followed by an Agrax Earthshade wash. Bad idea. Seraphim Sepia would have looked much better (at leas according to an example I saw on the Citadel Paint app).

I posted a little guide to my Death Guard technique in the last oath thread.

Galaspar posted:

The technique is based off an ancient tutorial from Dakka with a few twists. I start with bright foundation paints over a white undercoat, including orange for all the metallic areas:

Then there's a brown wash all over, followed by a black wash on the recesses and coloured parts:

Then the fun bit. The original tutorial had a green wash all over the white. I've found it's more effective to use patches of green, camoshade and crimson:

Then the armour gets close vertical stripes of heavily thinned off-white so that the washes show through. The green parts go in two directions; the trim (such as I bother with, the stripey white technique neatly avoids having to pick out loads of trim) is layered with greyish greens, and the tentacles etc are highlighted all the way to a sickly yellow, with thinned coat of Nurgle's Rot for added yuck. The metals are selectively picked out in Leadbelcher, followed by a thin coat of Typhus Corrosion, then more Leadbelcher:

Bolter & Chainsword on the left is just from the Cadian Command Squad. Ladyguard is from Victoria Miniatures - Greatcoat legs, Dress Uniform Torso, Dress Uniform Head, and the Female Officer sprue. My kill team is essentially Cadians for Special Weapons Guard, Victoria's Rausenberg Seige Corps for regular Guardsmen (And women), and Scions that I've yet to assemble.

I looked at all the details on that Deathguard stuff and just pulled out the washes.

Recently painted some Reaper minis and the lack of little doodads and symbols was almost refreshing. Like, here’s a gallows. No skulls everywhere, no little clever details hidden in a nook. Just wood and rope and nails, that’s it. Sometimes that’s all I want!

Is the platform tall (or “deep” I suppose?) enough for the trap door to actually swing open?

(“Actually” in terms of in its own world, not in “can the model actually do this?” terms.)

Super easy to do, it's just all the washes over white and then an extremely light drybrush of the relevant edge colours (dorn yellow over the yellow area etc)

To clarify, I love them. But they just don't fit in in modern armies.
