Yeah Jared is Scare Bear. The Bear mascot head from a previous episode since he is apart of the "cheer team." The greasy rear end stain from where his webbing soaks through. The fact he knows what Dean is up to, and its a double bonus for him since he was also into Hank's girlfriend.

Does not surprise me Dean would betray his brother, he was ready to mutate humanity to get it on with some six armed chick as the "Lee Honda Hand Job" or whatever they called him. I have a feeling the only thing that could break Hank is his brother's betrayal. I don't think Hank goes villian, but I think Dean does.

It's a beaver. Since this has come up more than once, here are a couple of screenshots so everyone can see that the two heads are not very similar:

I just noticed that Scare Bear found Hank on Stuyvesant University's campus. More circumstantial evidence suggesting Scare Bear is Jared.... or Dean and Hank's stalker-mother, who may or may not be a very much alive Henchman 24.

First of all, who wouldn't allow humanity to be mutated when the opportunity to make out with a hot mutant chick arises? And I may not know what a Li Han Took is, but it sure sounds like an important title, and I want it.

Now, that said, sleeping with one's sibling's significant other is a thing that happens in real life. It doesn't usually cause the betrayer to become a villain; that person is either already a villain on some level (as sleeping with your brother's girlfriend is a dick move), or they're remorseful and repentant. I doubt Dean would go villain because of this turn of events. Hell, what brought he and Sirena together was probably at least partially their shared desires to not live in that world anymore.

I honestly like how the end scene played out a lot. No hysterics. No overwrought drama. Just Dean and Sirena feeling very ashamed and Hank feeling hurt.

As lovely as it sounds to say, I think Dean and Sirena are better for each other. I'm not defending the whole situation but in the long term Sirena would have hated Hank wanting to join OSI or just generally go adventuring for pretty much the same reasons Dean hates it. They're both just kind of over all this bullshit and want to get as far away as possible when they can. Not defending the whole situation and obviously Hank and Sirena are adorable but this could also pan out in a way we don't expect.

Oh well. At least Dean finally got laid.

Anyway, I don't think Scare Bear is Jarred. I think he (or she) was just doing the typical slasher thing of wandering around and looking scary when she (or he) came across Hank in the snow and decided to be a helpful bear and take him to his girlfriend. I fully expect Scare Bear to just disappear off into the night before Hank wakes up.

I think Scare Bear was there to push Hank towards being a villain. Hank is clearly heading towards that. Why else would they bring back Enrico Matassa? He'll start arching his brother to try to win Sirena back. She won't want him back because she clearly dislikes the villain life.

It would be funny if this leads to Hank approaching Wide Wale again, or even the Monarch himself to learn the ways of villainy. (he has teamed up with Gary before) Also Dermott getting involved, since he's OSI now.

Put me down for Scare Bear is a Killinger-esque supernatural entity who appeared to Hank to set him down the path of villainry, its previous appearance was also a non-sequiter where it seemingly appeared from nowhere without apparent cause for a horror scene. Definitely some kind of evil spirit.

Ghost Leviathan

Does make me wonder how Dermott might do in the OSI, and whether he'd last long enough and gain enough kudos to get a goofy nickname.

On a quick google, Private Second Class is the second lowest paygrade in the US army (which the OSI probably is based on) above regular ol' Private, and below Private First Class. Raises questions whether Dermott's nepotism got him a quick promotion or he's been serving long enough to legitimately earn one, though he's still the equivalent of a henchman.

In the army you get promoted to second class after six months TIS and to PFC after 12 months TIS. You can also come in at one of those ranks depending on college credits or ROTC or whatever. In the case of the OSI, probably just by being Rusty's illegitimate son.

Ghost Leviathan

That'd make sense. The OSI probably is in need of recruits given the recent escalation of things and losing a lot of people.

Similarities between Hank and The Mighty Monarch:

1. The less favored of two Venture Brothers
2. Fully committed to the costumed business
3. Chubby best friend (21/Dermott)
4. Both voiced by Jackson Publick

In conclusion, Dermott will not be staying in OSI, he'll take his training and defect to be Hank's Sidekick, Flying Sidekick.

Dammit! I thought of that last night when I was waiting to fall asleep, and I thought, "No, don't get up to post that. You're so clever, sir, that nobody but you could figure it out and make that connection. You have plenty of time to (snore)...."

That said, someone posted some good evidence that Jared can't be Scare Bear; I think it was because Jared was serving them at the Ninja restaurant while Scare Bear was at the Doom Factory party at Ven-Tech. Unless there is more than one Scare Bear! Maybe he's like the Dread Pirate Roberts? I mean, we never do see Scare Bear do anything other than make people afraid. He's got a chef's knife, but so do I, and it's not like I go around in costume killing people all the time. Perhaps his two superpowers are 1) Knife, and 2) Reputation.

They're always round eyes from what I can see. I mean, I know I shared pics above of the two costumes in question, but it's not like you have to go down to a pixel level analysis to see that they're two different costumes. It's obvious at a brief glance.

I will say, though, that I did re-watch the last episode, and I kept looking at the eyes, hoping to see if I could make out the corner of any of Jared's upper eyes (as he has, like, 8 eyes or something). Nothing.

Well, they both have black eyes, but that's true of a lot of characters on this show.

Pete and Billy were helping Hank with his date when Scare Bear appeared at the Venture apartment.

Brock was also seen elsewhere, although I think we already know Brock doesn't fit in that costume.

I'm honestly kind of at a loss for who it could be if it isn't Jared, aside from "any one of the hundreds of minor characters I can't prove it wasn't." Sheila is too short unless she wore platform boots, and honestly even then it isn't her style. Col. Gathers obviously doesn't give a poo poo about Hank's girlfriend.

Given how this show handles reveals, I feel like we should be able to figure this out. What does Scare Bear want? It... mostly just seems to hang around and be scary? It carries a knife but we've never seen it do violence, even when it had obvious opportunities. It got into the Revenge Society's auditions somehow, but didn't actually kill any of them and apparently just kind of left offscreen. It attended the Doom Factory's party, (uh, did they invite it? It's not like it was scheduled) but apparently left on its own, since it's still alive, and it didn't even really scare anybody while it was there.

Scare Bear seems to want to watch the Ventures, and it has some interest in their affairs, and doesn't seem to want to do them physical harm, but it doesn't want them to know who it is.

...I guess Ben, since he was notably missing earlier. That's why his knives are so messy, because he doesn't have Red Helper to wash them.
