I can see why China would want to move away from gas powered vehicles since the gas has to come from out of the country and that's a thing Xi hates, but there's also no infrastructure for it so

none of these brain geniuses talking about the move to electric vehicles ever has any plan to deal with massively increased electrical grid load, or in the US, the problem that anyone who doesn't live near their job needs lots of range to commute and hours-long charge times don't cut it.
