"Jesus, did I say that? Or just think it? Was I talking? Did they hear me?"
Best episode of the season thus far. Frank remembering where he stashed his ancient woods porn, Charlie & Mac destroying kids in a street fight, Dee acting like Psycho Dennis, Dennis trying to act hip and young, and BEGONE.

Just amazing.

I was kind of pissed that Mac didn't start whaling on that kid's dad. It would have made sense in earlier seasons, but Mac is fuckin ripped now and he could have easily taken the guy down. The getting scared, backing off, and then beating the poo poo out of some kids is more something that regular Mac or fat mac would have done. Ripped mac should have just beat up that guy, especially since he was the one that took their bikes before.

I was kinda expecting that too. What's the answer to "What're you gonna do about it?" Hit the guy in the face. (Or call the police, obviously, but this is Always Sunny we're talking about.) But Mac has always been a coward who only knows how to pretend he's a tough guy -- I just got finished rewatching the wrestling episode where he runs away from Cricket, who was armed with a handful of sand. Even if he's finally consolidated all that mass, I can definitely see him being the same old Mac, scared to get into a real fight. And good lord was the fight scene with the children one of the best bits they've done.

Dee's transformation into Dennis is amazing and very well acted.

I am going to propose a theory. Dennis brought up the fact that he and Dee are twins in this episode, and we also saw Dee channel Dennis. There is a concept called Twin Telepathy and it would be amazing if by the end of the season Dennis and Dee became a unified sociopathic human of some kind.

Apparently Glenn regrets the title of one episode:

https://uproxx.com/tv/its-always-sunny-in-philadelphia-regrets/

quote:

“Sweet Dee’s Dating a Retarded Person,” which aired 11 years ago this month... The episode title, referring to Dee dating an amateur rapper who may or may not have an intellectual disability, is “one of the few regrets I have. I would change that title now. I do find that title offensive, personally. At the time I don’t even know what I was thinking.”

when I saw the episode title I always thought it was originally supposed to be "dating a retard" and then they changed it to "dating a retarded person"

because I expect IASIP to be more edgy and because the former sounds more like how people actually talk

have they ever commented on their use of "tranny" in the early seasons? that wouldn't fly today either

The best part of this one was when the girl asks Dennis if he wants some chili, and he's all like "No, it makes me boof." And then he follows up with, "I don't wanna boof right now."

Latest episode was good, but that Time's up episode was so top notch. All the references to the hot climate really worked for me, the Dennis reveal at the end was great, that soulless "their phones did" from Dennis there, Dennis being the only one not freaking out and knowing sexual harassment law inside and out, it was just firing on all cylinders for me. Hitting on a topical issue is just icing on the cake.

Only weak episode of the season for me so far was Boggs 2, but even that wasn't outright bad it just wasn't at the level of the other episodes for me.

I thought it was ok to say someone's retarded if you mean they're actually intellectually disabled and aren't just being insulting? If they wanna walk back some language, "tranny" is probably a better place to start

Yeah Glenn also said he kind of regretted the decision to use that word the way they did. Carmen is still one of the best depictions of a trans woman on TV right now though. I'm looking forward to how the gang solves the bathroom problem.

I think their past use of "tranny" is also softened by the fact that Carmen and Nick legitimately had the most positive outcome of anyone who's interacted with The Gang.

I loved how he was trying to support their team throughout it all by taking a bunch of hits, but after several punches, he'd instinctively fight back for one or two blows... then back to tanking their hits, then fighting back for a second... there was this crazy rhythm to it. And when he did fight back, it was nasty! Slamming heads into cars, kidney shots, haymakers; each separated by him absorbing quite a bit of abuse before doing one thing and then tanking more hits. He kept switching from 0% to 100%.
