lmao I loving love this show. It went from Apocalypse to Ryan Murphy so far delivering on Coven's promise several years after the fact, but with Tate's Satan baby for good measure ??? lmbo ofc it could crash and burn immediately, but I'm here for it either way. I do love Coven so I will welcome a steaming hot mess if need be. e: also cody fern is excellent. and i'm amazed it took this show so many seasons to hear glory box tbh

Oh I know it'll all fall apart when who can do what and who can defeat who and who can be dead all gets muddled together. But the Boys School was pretty well done, as was explaining how Queenie and Madison came back from the dead. Don't think they've mentioned how Myrtle is still there though.

Either way, she was burned again, which fulfilled the punishment for killing the previous council.

One of the big reasons I enjoyed Hotel so much was them finally letting Evans play against type. Once Murphy stopped casting him as the either very brooding, or very sincere, or brooding yet sincere young love interest, I've loved him more and more every season. Not unlike Lange playing the same role over and over again, I thought he was doing great but was really bored of it.

I wish I hadn't been spoiled (AHS: Cult spoiler) that Ivy was part of the cult. Although when you do find that out so many of her actions, plus the fact that she knew Winter prior to her being their Nanny. makes so much more sense. It really is terrifying but I'm glad it's a "reality" terrifying and not super natural. AHS has really improved with shorter seasons.

As I've said many times in this thread, Coven is a clusterfuck of randomness, dropped plot lines, character motivations that change every 2 seconds, universe building that's poo poo, etc. But it seems like it will be essential to the rest of Apocalypse. Which is why I've been quite surprised to have so far been enjoying Apocalypse's Coven crossover. They undid the death of the best character (Queenie) from Hotel and are doing IMMENSELY better world building this time around. In fact I will say so far Apocalypse is being far better with remembering plot details and characters from Coven than Coven was episode-to-episode, impressive for a 5 season gap. They frankly injected more personality and coherent narrative into the Warlocks in one episode than the entire run of Coven did for it's magical councils. So that's my viewing recommendation: If you have a high tolerance for ludicrous WTF?? out of nowhere scenes and character actions for an entire season, there was at least some fun stuff buried in Coven. Just be prepared for major characters to die off screen, every antagonist to be jaw droppingly stupid and characters to 180 everything about themselves out of nowhere. There's a non-magical death where someone is murdered by bees in an air conditioner for Christ's sake. As far as what might be really helpful for you to know? I guess the remaining Witches powers would be good. Cordillera is the supreme (unless she dies, then a new person will be) so she has all the top-tier powers from every speciality, Queenie has dabbled in voodoo but her real strength is if you hurt her, instead of damaging her you damage yourself in exactly the same way, which is one of the things they consistently use to awesome effect. She was only killed because she was up against a ghost, and thus could not hurt it back. As for the rest? They're mostly just moderately good at different things past that. With the exception of Zoe, who.. uh.. has a murder vagina that kills anyone she fucks unless they're a zombie. No idea if Evan Peters will reprise his role as the zombie boy but I wouldn't be surprised. Also Mertyl got burnt at the stake for murdering a bunch of high-ranking magical people in one of the most poorly defined organizations ever (in Coven). It's a shame nobody brought back the one witch that got drowned in a tub off-screen because gently caress Coven, instead of the competent but mostly useless actress character. To be honest given her character in Coven I'm surprised she's not on Satan's side. ED: Also (I suspect because it was based on a real, horrible person) the racist Kathy Bates character arc was one of the most disappointing things in Coven to me. I loved the idea that through crazy hosed up circumstances that she'd end up with an actual redemption arc, because it was pretty bold to do that with a terrible person. The last minute 'Nope just kidding still evil, never gonna change!' ruined what could have been one of the most unique and interesting things about Coven. Like I said though it being based on a real person half makes me think it was pressured decision and not necessarily the original intent. At least we'll always have..

As much as I love the idea her power is the Vagina of Doom, I’m pretty sure her actual original power was analogous to Rogue from X-men and she drains lifeforce by any touch which is why it was cool that her boyfriend was zombie tate. Could be wrong about that, it’s been so long.
