Yeah it does.

I just started a playthrough in OpenMW. Using Mod Organizer plus https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/45642 to copy the config to OpenMW works great. Works pretty much out of the box with MO now, I have the STEP setup loaded up plus several other mods I like. Working great so far.

game owns i did a huuuuge STEP-based reinstall and it looks spectacular

... is there a mod that correctly reduces or I guess "balances" spell magicka casting cost? I remember playing with Morrowind Rebirth in the past and it just... was better by default as packaged in that overhaul. I do NOT remember spells casting cost being so silly, "First Barrier" is 30 pts to cast lmao. I can heal myself for like, 10 points of damage for 3 points of magicka but a 10 point magical barrier is 30??

They're the same, 20. Vanilla spell casting doesn't depend on the skill level for magicka cost does it?

That wouldn't matter, without a mod skill level has no effect on casting costs.

Yeah vanilla just needs a lot of tweaks if you want to integrate magic into anything that's not a pure mage character

once when the game first came out on xbox me and my brother were playing. I pumped everything into luck and intelligence and enchanted an amulet that healed like 4x my max health and had a huge amount of charge. Man my bro flipped out about that. That was a log rear end time ago drat

My last character was a pure mage character and I was kind of enjoying it but I fell off and didn't play for a few months and despite being pretty deep into the game, I decided to give in to rerollitis and play a thief character, which is basically every character in an Elder Scrolls game. I kind of miss all the magic though.

this is pretty much how the games naturally devolve for me too. incidental skills to assist in the heist of everything that isn't nailed down.

Stealing stuff in Elder Scrolls games gives me an erection every time. Doubly so for Morrowind.

Is there a mod that fixes the bug where if you steal one item from someone, you can never sell any other copies of it to that person. I've gotten locked out of the Balmora herbalist on accident so many drat times trying to sell her a diamond.

I did the main quest properly twice ever. First when the game was new and I was a child, and then a year or two ago when I was a larger child. Usually I just grab kagrenacs tools and kill dagoth ur whenever.

New Game Checklist:
- Start a new character and pick one of the suboptimal pregenerated warrior classes and promise myself I am going to play it "right" this time
- Fargoth's Ring, Death of a Taxman, Tarhiel's corpse, etc.
- Hey for shits and grins let's go through that little beginner dungeon
- But also why would I leave behind Mentor's Ring?
- Okay that was a little metagamey but yeah okay gonna walk run while at 0 fatigue to Balmora
- Spend the next several hours stealing every item from every unoccupied house in Balmora
- Exit game, swear I'll come back to the save tomorrow
- Wait 3d6 months, repeat

I think for my next character I'm going to play a full-on warrior with GCD, pick 7/9 Combat skills and become a hulking beefcake with 200 STR and END.

I usually play hacken-slashy dudes, and it's hard not to take the White Woe. Very, very hard.

Also hard: not getting a Daedric weapon of choice right off the bat. And the rings...

GCD rewards specialisation by weighting stat and skill growth based on your initial character choices i.e. if you start with higher initial attribute scores and skills in certain things, you’ll develop faster in them and have a higher maximum threshold (although there are technically no caps, the progression eventually slows to the point where there are de facto caps). Each skill contributes to attributes in a variety of ways (e.g. long sword might be 65% strength, 30% agility and 5% speed).

The corollary to the above is that if you try and diversify your character too much, they can end up not as good. IIRC mad leveller is better if you’re thinking of multiclassing.

GCD is at its heart a difficulty mod because it slows progression overall, but mechanically I find it fun and enjoyable. God knows you need something now to slow down the game’s progression now because of all the content in TR.

The min-max battlemage with GCD is basically all of the skills that contribute to STR/END with some Agility, combat focus, good combat racial and then relying completely on Enchant for spellcasting, maybe throw in Alchemy.
