As a U/X designer, the new Zelda SPECIAL edition is giving me the shakes. It's literally just a desktop shortcut to load a save state and instead of putting it cleanly under the menu options for LoZ they just made a 2nd entry and just slapped a big SPECIAL badge on the box art.

They 100% did it to try and pad the terrible lineup of games and it's so poorly and lazily done (it literally drops you into the middle of the game) I can't handle it.

What happens if you die? Does it bring you back to the title screen? And if so, does the title screen at least have an edit to it?

The name of the file is Link, you can see it on the save screen if you die, but if you try to reset the ROM it just immediately starts it from the save state.

Also if you'll notice that when loading the game from the box art, there's a little bit of a projectile sword at the bottom, so the dude that create the save state was in mid swing when he pushed the button.

so, what, if you have a save file and load the game again from the main menu does it just go right into that save state? do you have to beat it in one go or something

I just tried it.

If you go to the save from the menu it loads the game from the beginning with all that stuff

You can download this version if you sign into your Japanese e-shop account. Its got longer load times, though.

Nintendo did download their own Roms off the net before. It was found in the headers. The games had .nes extensions too. In animal crossing on GameCube and in the Virtual Console lmfao

In Training

That's been debunked before, the headers are the same bc Nintendo hired the guy who made NESticle to do Virtual Console stuff for them so they shared headers and other code bits. Im too stupid to understand the details but there was a article about it in the past that i read and nodded along with

I don't think so regarding Animal Crossing. A few games used the select button to navigate through menus which the Gamecube controller didn't have, and so the AC versions were modified so you could use the dpad for menus.

This reminds me how hosed it was that on the GCN Animal Crossing, you got stuck with a random NES game and it was like impossible to get the others. I wound up with DK JR math and Clu Clu Land

The rationale for the romhacks seems to be that it makes the game more suitable to pick it up and immediately have more going on than what's usual at the start of the game. Not to make it easier, but to skip to the middle because the middle is more fun than the beginning.
