I think there is confusion because usually the way the process works is that you send in the $500 deposit first, so they know you're serious before they start translating a bunch of auction sheets for you. Inspection costs are just deducted from your deposit and settled up when you make a purchase, and usually inspections are done on anything you're serious about bidding on. Personally I passed on anything with a C or worse than S1 on a sheet. I can handle fixing a little rust, but I'm not trying to fix frame corrosion.

Mostly done, needs trim restore and metal polish done on the chrome and she'll be 100% ready. This one had a number of custom things done to it that I un-did. Took out all of the extra electrical stuff since it was wired poorly, everywhere, and done without thought rather than "where can we put this RIGHT AT THIS INSTANT?". Also took off the running boards as it looks so much leaner and larger with them off. It will come with them of course, but it photographs better without them. I did the same thing with the 2 door Pajero we have and it did the same thing, leaned the thing out something absurd visually. This is missing its headlight washing tank because they decided to install a secondary motorcycle-sized 12v battery in its place with a custom shelf that they had wired a number of DC electrical ports and a light mounted on the front bumper to, guessing when they went camping in it they used that battery to power a lot of their things overnight. It wasn't tied into the actual electrical system at all. It was ugly, goofy, and photographed really bad so it's all out. It did clean up really nicely though, so much cleaner and now it's Nintendo-colors can really shine. It could really used a professional paint correction done (though it is single stage so I was able to get most of the oxidation out myself), new decals applied, snow tires replaced and the automatic transmission ripped out and thrown in the goddamn ocean man is it real frustrating. It's smooth and comfortable for sure, but a 2.5 liter diesel mated to a slushbox hauling around all that weight is slow as balls. KakerMix fucked around with this message at 02:57 on Oct 9, 2018 |

Oh god the memories. Hazy memories. A flat mate had a white one. Don’t ever try sleeping across the front seats on a ski trip, it’ll end in disaster. Also fit my entire life into it at one point when I needed to move. That’s cleaned up real nice though!

KakerMix, around here flat towing your car behind your RV isn't that big a thing, but for those that do, the Jimny and Samurai were incredibly popular. Seems with all the snowbirds in Florida could it be worth your time hitting that market by offering them ready to go with the flat tow gear?

Possibly, but to ~expand~ into that market I'd think I'd have to exhaust people who would just like a Jimny to start with. I can certainly give it a look, my mother-in-law's girlfriend is actually interested in a Jimny with the stipulation be that it's an automatic as she's older and just can't handle a manual transmission like she used to, to pull behind her RV. Soon, soon.

Speaking of AZ1s, orange looks like bodykit so can't tell if its a true mazda speed hood. but blue just looks nicer. https://auc.japancardirect.com/aj-8Ry9rLa9EbeZb9.htm https://auc.japancardirect.com/aj-icpxp22dfLiqjTq.htm

wargames posted:Is that az1 in that picture a mazda speed verison, think the hood scope is off a mazda speed. No, there are a bunch of after-market hoods like that, Mazdaspeed version is much nicer than the black 'Autogiano' one on my AZ-1. It attempts to make the AZ-1 look meaner by covering the round portion of the lights up top rather than the Mazdaspeed hood where it accentuates the curves all the way up the length of the hood. I think the hood is ugly but that's what it came with and tastes run the gamut so That blue one looks to have the Speed front bumper at least, also has aftermarket wheels and steering wheel, can't easily tell if the driver's seat is OEM though. That orange one has the Autogiano hood, some off-brand front lip, rear light bar modification, aftermarket exhaust, aftermarket driver's seat and some sort of dashboard modification to fit those two gauges in the top center there. Shift knob is odd too.

I need to find that one photo I have of that car because it really did look amazing (black 2 seater with rainbow angular flames down the site, 90s as all hell). That era vitara was remarkably capable for a cheap 4x4, I used to take it down to the beach and jump it off dunes and it just kept on going. I drove a more recent model and it was truly the worst thing I've ever driven - you had to shift down two gears to just go up a mild slope - gutless doesn't even start to describe it.

Apparently the new 2019 also replaces the current 84hp 1.3 engine with a lighter 100hp 1.5 engine with revised gear ratios which should actually make highway speeds tolerable for a change. Also for thread content I'm currently in Malta for the week and the place is packed full of old 80's and 90's Jimny's, Subaru Justy's & Vivos, Daihatsu Terios, Pajero Jr and other K-cars. It seems this is where they all end up since the roads here are super old and narrow along with the fact they drive on the left as well. It takes a long time to become a dealer. Lost this one tonight: It's a manual transmission diesel 2WD Mitsubishi Delica. Good shape, AC, neat decals. I put in a bid for 174956 yen, it sold for 183000. Missed it by $71.47. Just means I'm getting better and better and getting the pricing right Also lost this Jimny: The big deal about this one is being 100% stock, not being lifted or modified like they typically are, still has its OEM bumpers and does NOT have the rear plate drilled directly into that rear door, AC, all while being a convertible Jimny. I put in a bid for 285,679 yen, mostly because it's a Feb. 1994 manufacture which means I would have to wait a total of 4 months to get it in my hands from right now, reserve wasn't met and negotiations start at 360000 yen plus a 10000 yen negotiation fee. Minimum then of 370,000 yen to get it. Decided to pass as being so long without the truck and being out the money the whole time just isn't worth it right now. Still though, it's one of the cars I've been hunting for. KakerMix fucked around with this message at 04:57 on Oct 20, 2018 |

wargames posted:What do we think about this az1? Also what does R mean? I don't see anything bad on the sheet, inspect it and see! R grades are my favorite grades because a lot of people run away. My J70 Land Cruiser, Hilux Surf, ratty AZ-1 and bright yellow Bongo truck are all R grades. I don't have the Bongo yet but the others have been great cars. I don't know why the Surf or Land Cruiser were rated R but there was absolutely nothing wrong with them. For this AZ-1 though I suspect the R grade is specifically because the sheet shows the hood has been replaced. And it has, that's a Mazdaspeed hood as the OEM one has an offset smaller hood scoop. EDIT I should also add that the sheet-filler-outter people aren't experts and will routinely say stuff like 'aftermarket steering wheel' or 'seats replaced' when they are original equipment, or as I always bring up, flat out say AC doesn't work when it in fact does. The sheets are a very loose guide, you gotta get an inspector out there to really give you an idea of what you are bidding on.
