If your stated policy is "we'll replace any of our tools that are broken no questions asked" then uh, that's what you should do. Kind of silly to say the customer is abusing the system by remembering that your policy exists. Whether or not that policy is a good idea or not is debatable. I would think requiring the original receipt would be a more reasonable stance from a business point of view. On the other hand having really good warranty service tends to drive brand loyalty assuming your product doesn't completely suck in the first place.
