The last few bosses of act 2 really ramp up the difficulty imo. I didn’t wipe at all until post game but I felt like I got some lucky breaks before that.

One big thing I learned from a loading screen tip that other dq noobs may not be aware of is that party members take less damage the farther to the right in the lineup they are. Your mages will still be destroyed if a boss attacks them directly but I’m sure it helps with aoe

i love that act 2 wraps up with a big, proper final dungeon that takes a long while to complete, but is smartly full of unlockable shortcuts (unlike 5's final dungeon that was a huge brutal gauntlet with no checkpoints) so that you can leave and make stuff with all the mats and recipes you find as you chip away at it i also love (postgame ending)that there's an Uber version of the castle for the final luminary trial

Yeah I keep forgetting that fact. I kicked his rear end the second time by sticking my tanks at the front and Rab at the back.

the craft they put into every character design and animation really pays off. small things like the first monster in a pack having a different entrance animation than the others, or each monster having a stupid, goofy sleep animation.

the academy dracky in 11 cracks me up. even though its supposed to be an angelic singer it only knows 1 song. it probably practised the song for 10 hours a day until it got really good at it
