Expect My Mom posted:I absolutely think it's all intentional and I dont think he really cares. His work has found international appeal and gotten him work with Gucci and the Louvre. I was recently talking with someone about how Part 1 ending that way was great because normally, a villain being coded as "gay" is usually meant to make them seem scarier, but Dio's already loving scary and bad by the time this happens. Him wanting to be with Jonathan in this still weird, hosed up way is the culmination of both of them showing each other their true feelings, even if most of those feelings are hostile. For the first time in probably ever, Dio isn't doing something because it's the most dickish thing he can do to a person; he really, seriously thinks this is good, and that it's the best way to end this. It's a weirdly endearing moment for him? Even though it's still really hosed up? And then JoJo gets even gayer from there? There's a point where if you put enough "gay culture" into something, it doesn't really matter whether or not is was intended as gay, initially. And ftr, DaVinci and Michelangelo were like...definitely gay. Like. Super gay. Michelangelo has never seen a naked human woman in his life and you can tell. So even if it's just a matter of learning from the Renaissance masters, that automatically makes it gay regardless.

There’s something I don’t get about why people don’t like giorno for trying to ‘read their moods’. Is it lost in translation?

John DiFool posted:There’s something I don’t get about why people don’t like giorno for trying to ‘read their moods’. Is it lost in translation? I imagine it's that people don't generally like being silently watched and judged by others. Giorno was trying to judge their mood rather than their character, but it probably feels much the same. Especially since it could be argued or viewed as your mood reflecting your character.

I read the "reading moods" thing as basically Giorno one of the calmer JoJo's yet. Children of abusive homes generally rely heavily on reading people and adapting their mood and actions to the moods of their parents, as a survival mechanism. We see this as Giorno approaches his dad for food when he's in a good mood, counting his money, so more likely to be given what he wants. That's what I got when they said that Giorno learned from his father at least. This studying of people paints him as quiet, most largely in a way his dad didn't like, but now that he's independent, it's a pretty helpful tool. He's able to pick up on marks, to deal with thugs like Luca, but also able to get people on his side in a very DIO like, just talking to them and explaining what he's going to do and how they're going to help them, rather than through showy displays of force and will like he does with Bruno and ignores all his protests

I think the idea is that he's trying for emotional manipulation by figuring out how they're feeling. If they're in a good mood he can get something from them, if the're in a bad mood, he should back off, etc. People don't like that he's only acting in his best interests.

You people are overthinking this hard. Seeing this child with giant eyes constantly staring at you while doing and saying nothing, blatantly analyzing you, would creep anyone out. Even if there's no real evil behind it, it's creepy and it's bound to anger people, which is pitiful because it's just a self-defense mechanism for an abused child that has lost all trust in people around him because each and every single person he could've trusted was a giant rear end in a top hat. Until he got involved with the mafia, anyways. The mafia's full of cool guys.

So who do you think that mafia guy was? I'm thinking Giorno's gonna time travel back at some point and get saved by his younger self.

Like STRAAAIGHT on the top. It messes with skill, physics (sending Josuke backwards at 70 km/h with no outside force), and knowledge (like the italian) Dio has Heaven's Door write in him, 'Stand power is not restricted by Joestar body' and no longer does he have to sync up by draining Joesph to fully learn it.
