As far as I can tell from commercials Hunter Killer is trying to solve the movie problem of submarines under water being boring as hell to look at by just eliminating that problem and never showing the submarine under water.

It should be the spot of the ball when he touches out of bounds, but it's technically where the ball breaks the plane of the sideline even though that raises a lot of difficult technicalities if a guy holds the ball over the sideline for like 30 yards and then steps out at the 1.
