I have a similar story. For a year or so former boss, his son, and I, would go out and work on former boss' dead dad's DIY maintenance home from the early 1900s. The dead guy was criminally management material and we managed to barely avoid serious house related injuries every time we went out. I don't think I can really make this one exciting so I'll cut to the chase and advise you that just because there is a breaker labeled 'basement' doesn't mean that the outlet box in the basement that you're sticking a screwdriver into isn't wired into the attic breaker.

I bet that was a shocking discovery. :haw:

The zip tie holding the vise grips in place is solid work. The kind of little touch that lets you know they take pride in their half-assed job.

Nah, they didn’t even trim the zip tie. The monsters.

Time to repost this chestnut from my job, when the city block kept losing power.

This was when the generator was not failing over and would backfeed the grid, so they wanted me to start the generator, disconnect mains, then close the generator circuit before all our UPS died.

My actual SOP was to not do poo poo, and call OSHA if they tried to fire me for it.

They kinda half assed said I couldn't take pics and that "we gotta get the job done," and I honestly couldn't even pretend to give a poo poo.

Usually I'm a really eager beaver at work, but in that moment I just couldn't even pretend I was going to do it, and flatly admitted I was going nowhere near that death trap and the pictures were my insurance policy.

Seriously there was so much loving stupid poo poo with that setup.

It becomes impossible to conduct parallel communication once a topic generates a certain base load of puns. It's like a switch gets flipped in goons' brains and they get stuck in a negative feedback loop, overloading the forums with a surge of bad humor.
