This might have to do with the fact that Labor electorates are more dense.

Yeah, if the number of postal votes left is around the same number cast in the 2016 election then there about 4000 left, breaking 2/3 Sharma, 1/3 Phelps. That makes it pretty much even.

"God, I wish I was dead!"

Still proving themselves to be incompetent. It reminded me of this article:

https://www.smh.com.au/opinion/capable-and-hardworking-dont-discount-julie-bishops-leadership-potential-20170811-gxugzp.html

quote:

It was November 2009 and Malcolm Turnbull was leader of the opposition, Hockey his shadow treasurer. Turnbull's remaining tenure was being counted in days and hours. He had had the temerity to negotiate a carbon emissions trading scheme with the Labor government, and his party had risen up in fury against him. The pretext for the meeting, party strategy, quickly gave way to the real business. In the room with Hockey were Tony Abbott, Peter Dutton, Andrew Robb, Julie Bishop, Liberal Party federal director Brian Loughnane and a handful of others. Abbott, not yet a candidate for the leadership, kept his counsel while Hockey held court.

An ebullient Hockey announced to his colleagues that he was going to challenge Turnbull. And not only Turnbull. "We're going to spill the deputy," declared Hockey, meaning that his backers would call a party room motion to declare the deputy Liberal leader's job vacant. "Dutts will be my deputy."

Julie Bishop spoke up: "You're going to spill the deputy?" "That's right," Hockey replied. "I'm the deputy," Bishop rejoined. Stunned silence followed. The men around the table were not stunned to learn that Bishop was deputy; the party room had elected her to the post two years earlier. They were shocked at their own blunder. How could they have overlooked her? It was not a smart way to run a covert plot. Bishop left the room.

I don’t think Caro can win but I could understand voting for her.

She is a very committed advocate for public education.

Tone's own local branch were hosed off with him enough to reject all his branch nominations and almost make him personally lose to an empty chair, imagine what the rest of the electorate might think of him. If she has a strong ground game and the anger stays, he really could be rolled.

Don Dongington posted:

Jane Caro (who I've never heard of but is apparently a minor celebrity) is apparently considering running in Wharringah at the next federal election, inspired by Phelps' success.

Based on recent polling, the electorate are deeply dissatisfied with Abbott and the RWNJs he runs with, so she has a definite shot.

This may actually be the answer - if the Liberal party won't deal with its internal toxicity, safe, 'socially progressive' tree tory seats will start falling to independents who still vote in the interests of money, but aren't one eyed idealogues.

Meaning no safe liberal seats remain. Someone should convince high profile tree tories to run in Claremont and Cook and just destroy the leadership.

I was actually thinking about this earlier.

Given many people are rusted on "Liberal" or "Labor", or even "Anyone but Liberal"/"Anyone but Labor" voters, and given the anti-government and anti-Major Party sentiment around, could the upcoming election be a boon for celebrity independents?

Said celeb-independents could run in safe seats to drain votes from the incumbent, or run in marginal seats to split the vote. They would also be a good chance of getting in, a la Dr. Phelps in certain places.

The growth of anti-white racism in the AEC is really destroying its credibility. I think it would be best if we just moved it to Jerusalem.

I know what it is, I just have no idea why anyone would refer to it when referencing an Australian election.
