Or blowing up the solitary fire control of a battleship and leaving it unable to shoot anything until it's repaired.

Re:X-wing is a fun system when you play with the basic ships and minimal optimization. Pro play means figuring out how to minimise the amount of variables in any given list making it a deeply formulaic game. Some lists just can't come out on top at a high play level short of incredible luck or bad judgement leading to ships being parked on asteroids. It didn't help that for a long period one of the best ships was a flying toilet seat.

I don't think Armada is dead, it's just not as popular as the wildly popular X-Wing.

The only other space game I can think of is Mobile Frame Zero: Intercept Orbit, which I have the pdf for, but have not played.

Mantic's Deadzone/Firefight/Warpath has no tiddy cringe, instead opting for depictions of women in combat based on reality, and is also an excellent trio of rules to boot. Plus it has space dwarves/scrunts, and on top of that space dwarf/scrunt bikers, so clearly they're already on a winner.

I can't think of any recent cringe models. Infinity is a great game. I am not going to ignore great games with awesome models because they have some models I don't like that involve women in underwear with guns. This stuff is awesome and you can pry it from my cold, dead hands.

I get that, and I'm not saying to boycott a company because they make cheesecake models. Its just so disheartening to see practically every miniature range have something weird about at least some of their female models.

Nah it's definitely improved, at least in the main line of "minis for use in the actual game" but that tech bee a few posts up is indeed a recent enough sculpt that it makes you wonder what they're thinking. Most of the others posted in this thread are long out of print.

Lol I was just quoting mugaaz’s defense of his anime titty game.

Personally I wouldn’t want to give money to a company that was so flatly, obviously sexist. That’s legitimately one place where I really like what both WotC and GW have done in recent years- they’ve both made very very deliberate attempts to be inclusive in both their character designs and their marketing. I don’t think we’re at lady space marines yet but GW has really consciously aimed for gender diversity in their newer model ranges (sigmarines are both guys and ladies and it’s done pretty tastefully, for example), and wizards has done a TON of stuff for good representation in their characters- it doesn’t really matter how you identify at this point, there’s a planeswalker or legendary character that looks like you that you can build a deck around if you like. Both companies also make it a point to have both male and female product representatives in their public facing marketing materials, so hopefully those external efforts at inclusion also reflect internal company practices.

In light of all that, what Corvus Belli is currently doing is just straight trash.

It’s not just the models. There’s groggy pushback in the x wing community due to how many women pilots are in the game.

But let’s not pretend that some people here are engaging in the topic in good faith

Space games: DP9 kickstarted a new Jovian chronicles, so maybe that will be a thing? (It won't be a thing)

Yeah, this lady that GW just added is loving rad. Pretty much indistinguishable in armour design from the other models on the battlefield, doesn't even have tit-plate.

Wizards is almost there, they just need to learn that plate armour worn by women don't need large metal cups for each boob. The best thing they've done is that in d&d 5th, they've added lore that after a long nap an Elf can select whatever gender they want for that day (including none). I like to think of it as a giant middle finger to the more toxic members of the community while also being super inclusive to people.

Deadzone only just recently went to a new 2nd edition, it's not dead, just suffering from the problem where 1st edition wasn't perfect out of the gate, so some tried it and wrote it off. Ronnie has been deadset on Vanguard avoiding Mantic's "2nd edition syndrome" for the same reason. Firefight/Warpath are brand new, but had a protracted launch because of Chinese factories making GBS threads the bed over the last few vehicles, something that happened to every TG company getting their gear made in China during the same 6 month period.

Yes but if the company wasn’t sexist they would have done that in their marketing materials and product photography.

Instead, this is how they’re being advertised as the canonical example of the model.
