Yeah 4chan culture is a particular brain poison and most of the awful alt-right poo poo we're dealing with now came from there. The alt-right is appealing because it gives bland nerds the ability to feel enlightened and special. Nearly every subforum on that site is about being a memeber of an edgy counterculture that's above the masses. It's all driven by narcissism and this NPC stuff is just an extension of that. Hell the whole gamergate thing came along because people like Bannon realized that there's tons of disaffected nerds out there who just needed some light nudging towards nationalism.
