I would say congratulations on your new car, but really, a ZX2? I had a girlfriend that had one when they were still running and that was an unbearable rattletrap to drive. Throttle response gave you 99% of the motor's capacity in the first inch of travel, then nothing. And the 99% wasn't much above nothing in the first place.

I just need a beater to soak up the drive to work and doesn't require premium.

Sounds like a great deal on a BG chassis, I'd jump on it imo.

Only thing I don't like about the ZX2's is the dashboard it's loving horrible.

I definitely don't have any religion, but I couldn't get past the awful dialogue. I didn't expect much and came away real disappointed.

The score and sfx were good? I liked space Cthulhu, and thought His death was far too unfortunate.

Not a good idea with the house purchase. So I hit up a friend in dire need of a vehicle and we're going to get it for him tomorrow. The $1000 price was the "you're a good friend" price but they will extend it to my buddy.

Well I def dont treat SW as a religion and I am easily entertained but goddamn Solo is such a genuinely bad movie.

Every single loving "plot" point is just about showing how Solo say got his gun or did something the prequels. The SJW robot was grating as hell. The McGuffin was ridiculous. The so called twists were laughable. And Emilia Clarke really cant act for poo poo, which is really obvious when you got the guys who played Lando and Solo were actually very good in making somethign from the shitpile presented to them to work with. It really was 101 of how to NOT do an origin movie.

Oh and Darth Maul? That is a literal intelliegnce of the audience insulter. Even in a universe of space wizards, that was the biggest asspull of them all. You are expecting me to suspend the disbelief that a space wizard who got clowned by a not experienced space wizard and got literally cut in half and fell down a loving pit, bouncing off the wall as he went as well, somehow not only survived but was the evil genuis behind it all? GET. hosed. Not even Space Wizards are surviving that one.

If you got rid of the SJW robot and that ridulous Maul poo poo, dialled back Clarke presence I guess you have an inoffensive but still not good movie that is at least watchable. I'm glad Disney in the end lost a shitload of money on that one and are now seriously rethinking what they are doing.... which is kinda a WTF becuase int he main I have thought the Disney SW files have been great, Rouge One especailly. The Last Jedi could have done without that racecourse / Rose-Finn dribble but the rest was top notch. They *really* got Solo wrong however

Also while I'm at it, gently caress the TV Star Wars poo poo.

ALSO while Im at it, if you havent seen Venture Bros season 7.... DO IT NOW. So drat goooooood

Apparently the TV shows explain how Maul survived, so, yeah. I thought it was a decent heist movie but that's about as good as it could be. A lot of that is Donald Glover loving killing it as Lando. Without him that movie would have been much worse.

I am a very casual Star Wars watcher and I watched solo for the first time the other day, it was entertaining but I also found Emelia Clarke hard to watch. I had wondered if it was because she is now typecast as Daenerys in my brain but her being a poo poo actress is, in retrospect a much better explanation!
I quite liked the robot, but maybe that was just Donald Glover carrying it.

WUT.
I didn't hate Solo. It was entertaining, but had no real substance to it. My main criticism was that it was entirely paint-by-numbers; it seemed like the writer wrote down some plot moments that a back story "had to" have, like the kessel run and han meeting chewie, and then tried to make a story out of those points strung together. But it had a lack of "what the gently caress is this" moments for me, so I guess I was just whelmed. It's fine, but not good.

This is it exactly.

The sad thing is they could have just abbreviated his original backstory and it would have been far better. Leave out the trogdorians and just turn him into a plain smuggler and he would have been fine. But him getting the ship as the defining moment is just wrong. He should have won it halfway through and then used it to pull a job which goes south and lands him on tattooine, not met lando and used his ship until winning it at the last scene.

There's worse cars out there - so long as the ZX2 has 3 pedals anyway (like this one).

They're loving terrible with an automatic.

NoWake posted:

I dealt with this poo poo from a "buy here pay here" lot masquerading as a Luxury European Auto Dealer after they sold a car they didn't hold the active title for. (the correct one was sitting in a Sheriffs office in another state) Five months after the sale, the State of Illinois came after me to submit the correct title, and since the dealership had supposedly sent it in, I passed the problem onto them. 3 weeks later, the dealer was still giving me the run around with "ohh the person who handles that is on vacation" and "they actually don't work here anymore" so I threatened legal action if they couldn't give me the legal title. In the end they found it easier to take the car back and return all of my money - for a car I'd just put about 8,000 miles on.

I've put 20k on this one already, but we DO have the title, and the dealer actually did put it in their name originally (something they're not required to do in TX if they're a licensed dealer, but the BHPH lots usually do so that they can put a lien on it easier if they finance it)... they just didn't give us the lien release form that we should have received (AND NEVER SHOULD HAVE PUT A LIEN ON IT TO BEGIN WITH). Plus I'm still really pissed about it taking 6 months to get the title, and them falsifying the inspection, also claiming 30 day warranty then backpedaling saying "we negotiated the price, therefore no warranty".

Don't really want to give it back despite it being a basketcase; sunk cost fallacy and all that. Plus then I'm out all the money I put into repairs, deferred maintenance, and upgrades. It's turning into a downright decent car, now that it has new brakes, half new suspension, level 3 interior, auto dimming mirror, working sunroof, slowly fixing all of the loving (windshield) leaks.... :shepicide:.

Mechanically it's been fine, and the Carfax shows a history of 3k-5k oil changes its entire life, just a lot of "hey this should have been taken care of a long time ago" type maintenance. The only mechanical issues of real concern are (a) when it missed really bad for a bit the other day (just finished changing wires and plug boots 30 minutes ago, all looked fine :ohdear:), and the typical leaking fuel return line that plagues these cars (need to make an appointment with a Chevy dealer to get it fixed, GM will pay for a new fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filler neck, and the lines between the pump and filter - semi-returnless system that has a 3 port filter). Oh, and the parking brake only engages one wheel. Awesome with the steep hills we have here, there's been some hills where parking in 1st or reverse alone isn't enough (*chuff*..... *chuff*..... *chuff*.....) and the parking brake isn't quite enough either. I've started carrying a couple of bricks with me to use as a wheel chock.

Well there's the problem, the TV Star Wars are unbeliveably bad.

Two points here tho -

a) That TV show was aimned at children so what happened in it and how things are depicted gets a certain amount of liberty. So doing things that stretch credibilty isnt really such an issue - and while I as an adult might want to hurl a cat through the screen in frustration at how dumb the bad guys are...... kids wont. They will accept it as bad is supposed to be dumb. I'm okay with that.

b) Here's the real problem tho. The great majority of movie watchers doesnt give a gently caress or has seen CLone Wars or Rebels. While I know that Maul got mechanical legs and was raised from the dead by the Witches of Darthomer - still dumb as gently caress in the Clone Wars but see above the general audience doesnt knwo this poo poo. Maul is there as a OH SHI your favorite Sith is baaaaaaaack isnt this awesooooooooome!!!! (just imagine I said that as Rich Evans in the Nerd Crew), it really comes off dumb as gently caress instead. And for me, it's a case of "Oh come ON, that just a loving huge asspull!" as Maul is there with zero explaination waving his lightsabre to try to make it as fanservice as possible... while actually insulting the audience. You HAVE to have some logic and credibility when you have a movie for adults[\spoiler]

All that said, there IS the hint of a good movie in there. If you got Glover and the guy hat played Solo with a not so poo poo script and "it needs to hit these notes fanservice" I'd genuinely be interested. I feel like there's a better movie that got edited to pieces because Disney didnt want what Lord and Millar came up with.

And if you want to persist with hitting plotpoints fanservice - Rouge One actually did it extremely well so use it's example. {spoiler] Plus Darth Vader was absolute nightmare material at the end. GodDAMN him just destroying the Rebels in his way was incredible - it was still fan service still but rolled into one amazing scene of clowning anything in his way
