This is actually an issue for me when I list build, and why I haven't used Guilliman yet despite having two different models for him.

And I once read the riot act on a DA player who brought the entire Inner Circle of Azrael, Belial, Sammael, and Ezekiel to a 2000 point match.

It would make sense as a part of a larger whole, like if that 2000 point game is the final battle of a major campaign or something. But in general I hate seeing special characters in a skirmish game. I get why they're so popular and can't fault people for liking the models and the rules, but personally I prefer conflict between generic characters.

This makes perfect sense, though? Those dudes are all bros. Of course they'll show up at the same battle and clown poo poo. And they use luxury suites in the Thunderhawk, which leaves less room for other marines, hence the army being fewer models.

Modeling, yes. Painting is...I've put off painting a single Kill Team for weeks now because I'm so terrified of how I'll gently caress it all up.

The only way to get better at painting is to paint. Your first stuff won't look nearly as good as you want but with practice you'll be putting out stuff you really like before you know it.

I'm the opposite; I hate assembling poo poo, filing down flashing / mold lines, gluing it. And while I don't actively enjoy painting, I enjoy the end result of having a painted army. That said, I too have been putting off finishing these last 3 Specialists for my Kill Team for a while now. Ugh and I'm picking up my Tallyman this week - gently caress.

If I have to pin/magnetize it, forget it. One of Mortarion's wings fell off the other week and I'm just like, "Well I guess I will never get to field Morty because I'm not dealing with putting that loving wing back on."

This happened at Warhammer night a few weeks ago, a friend pulled out his Morty, said "check it out I just finished painting his wings!" and the left one dropped off, right on cue.

I would love a videogame set on a Blackstone Fortress, some kind of dungeon crawler or rogue-like. But of course GW would just ruin it by handing it off to a shitheaded studio.

susan posted:

In the lore, no one really knows who built the Blackstone Fortresses. Could be Old Ones, something from outside the galaxy, or Dark Age tech (though extremely unlikely).

If I remember right, blackstone is heavily implied to be c’tan technology, what with Necrons tending to cluster around it.

I'd say Mechanicus makes the least amount of sense for something that is supposed to be defending the Fortress on behalf of the Fortress to be honest - I think lorewise the Eldar are supposed to have built the Fortresses, or their gods, which would be the Old Ones I guess.

I mean it would be a first to have models for anything that ancient lorewise, but it looks visually distinct from any of the armies out at the moment so I'll guess it's either that, pre-fall Eldar, ancient Necron, or maybe even Golden Age mankind.

Or probably most like 40k style, it will never be explicitly stated but hinted at as ancient and incomprehensible and/or have conflicting origin stories from various authors.

Is this fortress supposed to be one of those Abaddon absconded with?

IIRC there were 6 forts.

Abaddon took 3, the 3 remaining under Imperial control self-destructed at the end of the Gothic war.

Of the 3 Abaddon had, one was boarded (and self-destructed) after his botched attempt to supernova a star and another was crashed into Cadia. Is this the final one?
