By 1899, considerable advances had been made on the Peasant Railgun. Especially feared was the Outlaw Gatling, capable of 800 rounds per minute.

This accidentally made the hazards way, way more hazardous. https://i.imgur.com/FVRbpZ0.mp4

What was the game where you could launch a tank into the air high enough to have a plane crash into it? That's still one of my favorite war game physics examples.

Possibly what you're talking about : In BF4 there's a level with a skyscraper, which includes an elevator that can take you all the way to its roof. The skyscraper can collapse as part of a big climactic event in the level, changing the landscape, and you would assume removing the ability to use the elevator too. But this is Battlefield, so if you could manage to find the elevator button buried in the rubble, you could still push it and get teleported way up in the sky where the roof used to be. And if you drove a tank next to the button before pushing it, the button would teleport the tank all the way up there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_BT_E54kQI

That seems more like an easter egg to me. Why would the complete deformation of the terrain and so on leave the elevator button exposed like that, not as a texture, but as a functioning game asset? The normal way to construct such things would be to just swap out part of the level, not painstakingly move every single floor to ground level and break apart pieces of furniture & so on in the level editor. Nice tho Carthag Tuek has a new favorite as of 02:18 on Nov 11, 2018 |

I don't know how battlefield maps work internally, but maybe the game doesn't support that kind of entity being deleted or moved in the middle of a session.

It was patched out. It wasn't intended. It isn't hard to see how it would happen accidentally. The building being destroyed changed the collision of the level but had no reason to move a contextual item that was coded as "teleport this thing to this location" and not actually tied to the building in any way, without someone specifically remembering to move the button when that happens. The rubble of the building just happens to leave it exposed after everything collapses around the terrorbutton.

The button is literally shown to be on the ground in the rubble, or am I misinterpreting?
|
# ? Nov 11, 2018 02:49 |
|
It is, because the button never moved: The building collapsed around it and turned into rubble, and the button never changed, floating where it always was.
