For_Great_Justice posted:Anything either adds rules or stipulations which is the core of what they want to avoid in the first place. In the specific case of T'au with their specific overwatch the best thing may be to remove or replace to OW feature since with the codex they have enough to survive without it or maybe with a 2.0 version to fix crisis suits, broad sides, etc all the other units that are not just sub-optimal they're just awful. It'd definitely need a patch mini-dex or Chapter Approved call-out or something, the biggest thing that removing For the Greater Good (or Overwatch entirely, going that route) would do is force all of the really toxic T'au strategies into being even more The Best Thing you can do. Hope you like Shield Drones and Riptides.

Hrm. I didn't mind Weirdboyz blowing themselves up, especially if it meant a good chance of D6 mortal wounds with the smite. I see that stormboyz got a rather irritating nerf I've not heard about before. The advance and assault with mortal wounds on a 1 has been changed to a guaranteed 6" advance with mortal wounds on a 1 instead. A bikeboss will be a mandatory escort for them if you want to do early game assaults. Curiously stormboy nobz can now take kombi-skorchas/rokkits, however Biker Nobz are specifically prohibited from kombi-weapons in general. Edit: Awwww the shoot twice badmoon stratagem is infantry only. krursk fucked around with this message at 07:42 on Nov 2, 2018 |

Stormboyz can deep strike now. And if you take Red Sunz you add +1 to charge. ‘Ere we go lets you reroll any or all charge dice. So you need an 8 to get into combat and you can reroll. That’s pretty good.

Delete Saviour Protocols, delete FtGG and juice up Mont'ka/Kauyon, change Farsight tenet to being able to shoot assault weapons in melee, do an internal balance pass, add more cool mercs. That's my T'au wishlist. E: streamline the Markerlight system as well, maybe make the counters into a currency to spend on effects/missiles and give the other player a 1cp stratagem to fox 'em somehow.

The best way to use them is for a combined turn 1 assault with a da-jumping squad of boyz/nobz/meganobz. Units with low mobility and/or a high target priority level such as Dreads, Naughts and Meganobz are far better choices for deep striking.

I don't think Markerlights need to be changed, honestly. Every other army has a character that can allow re-rolls of one to hit or wound in a bubble, where as Tau need to score a hit to score the benefit. It's not something that happens by default, you have to pick and choose where the lights will go, which can inform who shoots at what. There's no guarantee that you'll achieve the full suite of benefits either, even with the strat that lets you score D3 lights instead of one. And with the Seeker Missiles, you still need line of sight from whomever has it. I think in previous editions, line of sight didn't matter for them but now it does.

Ehh, they're practically guaranteed to get in on the charge directly out of deep strike. I think that is pretty useful, even if they have to wait till turn two to do it. Sometimes it might not be, nice which case they're still pretty mobile on the board.

I wanna know what the $130 Kill Team package is 🤔 The Blackstone Fortress stuff is cool but I just can't get into it Has anyone seen Orks with green armor? I'm wondering how a dark, forest green might work on a really light yellow-green skin might turn out. How much is, lessay, a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk in Australialand? I always see the doubled cost of GW stuff over there but I don’t have any context for how much a single Aussie dollar is actually worth.

Paint opinions question: I have an Apothecary that I want to convert up and make all Nurgley. I don’t want to do Desth Guard, but rather have it be a former Loyalist marine who was corrupted and has largely left his armor the same except for the gross dinginess that comes with being a Nurglebro. Leaving aside all the gross buboes and pustules and what not, what’s my best bet for painting over an existing Apothecary to show that corruption? My heart says to start with Athonian Camoshade but I don’t know where to go from there aside from dabbing Typhus Corrosion on.

At the current exchange rate the Australian price is about $40 USD more than the US price, which seems almost kind of vaguely reasonable for a physical thing? I've never understood why videogames cost like twice as much in Australia, there's no shipping costs.

Zaphod42 posted:I know dick about dark elves, have not once fought them. Dark elder are cool. The most popular way to play them is a bunch of minimum sized troops in their flying venoms. Which is cool because there’s basically a uniform threat distribution across the whole table which makes prioritization against them more interesting. The venoms have a base -1 to hit vs them. Also it’s almost ubiquitous that the dude will bring 3x ravagers which are their skimmers equipped with 3x nasty anti armor weapons each. The other two “competitive” ways to run them are talos spam or souping just the ravagers into regular elder lists. I think dark elder play in a way that’s much different from other 40k armies that makes them fun to play and play against.

I'm playing in next Friday's doubles tournament at Da Boyz GT and I need some advice. It's 1K per player and I'm teaming up with my buddy who's gonna bring some lascannon long claws, wulfen, a storm shield dread and troops. We figured I should build my Deathwatch to include long range anti-infantry along with a deep strike unit or two. My question is, what is better? Vets with heavy 2, 30" range stalker bolters, or Intercessors with heavy 1 36" range stalker rifles? I'm wondering about balancing more shots with less wounds and range vs a longer reach and a more durable backfield unit. My other ideas include a jump captain with the beacon angelis just jumping forward early and irish-whipping a close-shooting squad of assult weapons within range of the enemy. But for now, any opinions on Stalker vets vs Stalker intercessors?
