Many people predict the Dems to gently caress it up before the election but I predict they’ll win and THEN gently caress it up as in they will basically just give their won seats over to GOP voluntarily as a sign of good faith or something.

lol yeah they are basically gonna gently caress it up one way or another and its going to deflate the base while racist turtle gets on tv and bitches about bipartisanship for the next two years and we will see another GOP wave in 2020.

Azathoth posted:EV wasn't great for Dems in 2016, but a big part of that was that the GOP ran a comparable GOTV effort themselves. In the end, both sides ran an equally effective GOTV effort, but that for reasons that aren't completely clear, Dems are more likely to vote early. Trump won because undecided voters broke decisively for him at the end, not because of any early voting trend. The stats were wrong because people who voted for trump were always going to vote for trump and were never ‘undecided’ but kept it a secret because voting for trump is shameful poo poo even for the GOP and when someone called them or came to their door to canvas they hid and clutched a shotgun because the jew liberal media is out to get them “Undecided” since like 2000 just means Republican voter who is too embarrassed or paranoid at that time to admit they’re a giant piece of poo poo

i'm pretty sure the dems will win the house (not the senate) but proceed to do nothing of note in the majority, or even actively abet far-right legislation in exchange for "demands." in NY alone they'll pick up at least four or five seats and likely more

My city has a referendum on a civilian police oversight board and while I was going through random 80s music stations on iTunes I heard a radio ad that starts with $1 million [cash register sound] $2 million [cash register sound] ... $9 million (in a sterner spookier voice) [cash register sound] over 30 seconds before they even let on what they're talking about. They know it's a small number even in the context of city politics so they've got to try to make it sound more like it is by counting to nine with "Mississippi"-sized pauses between. Also, it's a lie because the text of the amendment itself says the board has a $1.5 million funding cap. I hope the referendum gets approved galenanorth has issued a correction as of 02:08 on Nov 5, 2018 |

Dumbass question, but is there a place where I can search for candidates/ballot measures in a given area and learn more about them? The local Dem org sent me a flyer about the Dem candidates running for office here as well as the main ballot measure for my city, but I feel like I should do more reading than just that.
