I went to a drop-off only location today (place that accepts drop off of mail ballots but doesn't do actual voting) and even that had a healthy bustle of people in and out. Lotta voting going on out there.

I voted in person and the lines were so short that most of the staff was sitting there doing nothing. It took less than five minutes. Same. Voted two weeks ago. Colorado owns. See: https://www.denverpost.com/2018/05/16/colorado-gerrymandering-ballot-measures/ hopefully it will actually pass

Of course, good luck convincing chuds that America isn't inherently better than everywhere just because. Are you implying that a country that's attacking its own education system is producing citizens that aren't educated enough to understand evidence that socialism generally brings health and happiness?

Leon Einstein posted:My wife was conservative when we first met, or at least thought she was. She agreed with me on most issues and I told her she wasn't actually conservative. She eventually took a political test that showed her beliefs are mainly aligned with democrats. Thankfully she came around, but I wonder how many people out there identify as conservatives without realizing how horrible and destructive their positions really are. I think she just saw herself as a conservative because she grew up poor and worked hard and saved money and was mainly self-reliant. I always found it weird that Americans from a background like your wife's seem to identify with conservatism, even though it clearly isn't in their best interests and likely doesn't align with their beliefs. In most countries they'd be more likely to align with the left-wing parties that grew out of the Labour movement. I guess the terror of anything that looked even vaguely socialist combined with a 2-party system designed to kerbstomp grassroots political movements killed that dream in America. But at least your system gave us Tromp lol

Socialism begets dictatorial leadership, oppression of the opposition using lethal force and heavy regimentation of civilian life to the point of using propaganda to make everyone opposite seem worse and scary. You sir are a... I just opened a dictionary and turns out that's fascism, not socialism. Egg on my face.

The whole system revolves around them not thinking about the whys and just being X because you're supposed to be X.

As lovely as the world seems, I managed to help make a small part of it better as I, and some close friends, managed to unionize our work place, and at other companies, unionizing half our industry at this point. Hopefully we can develop a collective bargaining agreement over the winter before the next field season, and gain more crews. Thank you thread for partially inspiring me to get off my rear end and actually do something.

I’m a firefighter medic and we went responded to a polling location today for someone who passed out. when we were checking him out, he woke up, we told him we were gonna take him to the hospital, and he immediately said “can I vote before we go?”. you sure can. we waited in line with him on a stretcher for almost 15 minutes while he voted. 🇺🇸

So for republicans who get voted out, will the blame be put on: 1) Them, for not sticking closely enough to Turmp's genius agenda 2) Massive electoral fraud by the democrats 3) The terrible fake news media for spreading despicable lies and hate 4) All of the above 5) A reasonable response to everything that's happened in the last two years
