The One was one of the first movies I bought on DVD. Entirely because the ads were showing the fight scene that was set to Let the Bodies Hit the Floor. It delivered everything that ad promised.

Dispatch says December is their biggest month ever and has a special theme they’re announcing via live video in a few weeks.

007? A different Bond each week maybe?

Hard to tell, but there was this info dropped in an interview they did:

Jupin: We have a really big theme month coming up in December. We're not ready to reveal what it is just yet, but it's going to be a big shift and probably piss off a ton of people, so keep your ears peeled!

Marvel movies maybe?

Christmas movies seems too obvious, but it would fit December, and those movies are usually dull as dishwater on their face compared to the usual WHM fare so it would piss people off.

But what would piss people off if not a sacred cow type of thing?

I personally hope it's an anime month. Do Ninja Scroll already!

I can't think of any theme which would result in something being the biggest month ever. Unless they're doing a bunch of short episodes on a ton of movies, but that's not a theme.

I could actually see this. They've already built up a pretty good joke regarding Ninja Scroll and they need to cash it in already.

(spoiler-tagging in case anyone hasn't seen it recently and doesn't wanna ruin the inevitable punchline)

Ninja Scroll is actually super loving tame, not just by anime standards but generally by, like, genre movie standards. The "rape scene" they remember is like a 2-second clip of the rock guy licking a boob, at which point he gets interrupted and fighting happens.

It's completely and utterly normal for a late-80s, early-90s action movie content-wise, and them going :psyduck: at their own memories mutating it is gonna inevitably be loving hilarious. Like, every movie they've done that they've even kinda gone "eeeeewwww" at is a thousand times worse.

As was suggested, Marvel movies? Bond? LOTR + Hobbit? Star Wars? The original trilogy might be considered big for their audience and there's enough new movies for stuff like the Patreon episode.

Focusing on an actor (Keanu Reeves?) and doing a career retrospective?

Focusing on a director and doing a career retrospective? Nolan with Prestige, Inception, Dark Knight Rises, and Interstellar? There's enough goofy stuff mixed with the good with his work. Or Tarantino? Based on some recent jokes they don't seem too high on him.

Focusing on a writer? Stephen King would give us Maximum Overdrive, The Shining (remake), and about 50 other terrible movies.

I'm guessing either Star Wars or Tarantino movies. I feel like they want to build their audience, and they'll do a lot better with stuff like this than with more Gary Busey like I would prefer. And I'm guessing some of their opinions could certainly piss people off.

Episode 120 of the Shockwaves podcast from Blumhouse is on-stage interview with Tom Atkins, from Halloween 3 and The Fog. The beginning is a little intro before they start the recording apologizing to the listening audience because they weren't sure that Tom knew he was being taped and they warned he was constantly distracted by the presence of a podium on the stage. "But it's a good interview!"

About halfway through he's talking about getting fitted for costumes with Gary Busey for Lethal Weapon. "So we're down there getting measured, and Gary is on the phone with Richard Donner, and he's saying 'I'm not going to be no loving mulatto!'" audience gasps and one of the hosts mutters 'Oh Jesus...' "Is that the word? No wait, with no hair and really pale?" Audience laughs uncomfortably while the hosts say albino "Yeah! Yeah, albino. 'I'm not going to be no loving albino!'"

Between stuff like that, the way he talks about women, and how he didn't exactly have great things to say about Carpenter as a direct, he's exactly who WHM made him out to be!

Edit: The episode is getting weirder and weirder. Mel Gibson and his trampoline outside his honey wagon.

Basterds

From Dusk till Dawn as the Patreon since he supposedly directed the first half and they could make fun of his character in the movie.

They’ve made fun of his scene in Pulp Fiction recently and the dialog he writes, so I could see a lot of “this hasn’t aged well! Woof!” kind of jokes. And it would probably piss off a lot film nerds. I could also see some of these turning into We Love Movies episodes.

I could see them doing the films of Kevin Smith but I don’t know how much there is to bust on Tarantino wise. Outside of the Jimmy scene Pulp Fiction is still a pretty good watch.

Anyway, the Wishmaster episode was great, I was already cracking up when they opened with Djinn blowjobs. Hopefully one day they can do them all (as well as every Hellraiser).

Could it just be a "We Love Movies" month?

Or revisiting movies from their first year of podcasting or something?

Both of those might annoy listeners.

Having gone back and listened to a lot of the old episodes I'd be fine with them redoing some of the first 10 or so, because they sorta left the recaps incomplete (though admittedly them not fully explaining what happens in Deadlock/Wedlock did make me want to watch it so maybe that's a point in their favor)

God drat this was a good episode. Been waiting for this episode forever and it delivered.

One of my worst Christmases was when I was at my brothers, the house was packed, and I was forced to sit in the basement with my nephews who watched Cat in the Hat over and over. They would watch fifteen seconds of the film and rewind it and watch those fifteen seconds again. I don't know what they found so mesmerizing about the Martha Stewart scene.

It's such a bad movie but it changes things knowing that Mike Myers didn't want to do the film.
