It all depends on what your baseline is. The Democrats had their best night in Texas since maybe the early 1990s? Of course Republicans are all about this performative politics that's about showing off who's "in charge" and who's dominant but it's harder to make that stick when the margin of victory was less than the Republican governor of Massachusetts. Republicans want 20 point blowouts. The psychological insecurity resulting from that also generates the need to do this kind of "Texas is RED" stuff.

Even if there isn't another Beto next time, this year's campaign has a material effect beyond the seats he coattailed to victory, does it not? Just the sheer number of people who registered and voted. Won't most of them tend to vote in the future?
