Also, keep in mind that the elderly often get pneumonia-complications because a) they feel they don't need to go to the doctor b) lack of resources c) neglect of people making them go to the doctor. RGB has a very devoted family and takes care of herself. She is going to be fine guys. Calm down.

Eh the court was already lost to us, the objective today remains the same as yesterday - take back the senate and pack the court. It is literally the only way. Even if RBG doesn't die from this she's still toast before 2020. Just accept the inevitability of it and focus.

Tibalt posted:That's an interesting ahistorical take considering Obama gave a pretty big speech sheet after Sandy Hook, and didn't have a cooperative Congress to try and force the issue. Yeah, Obama only had a majority Senate & House for his first two years, and that was spent on the Recovery Act and the Affordable Care Act. He pushed for gun control repeatedly, but he knew he never had the support from congress to pass new laws. So his actions were mostly limited to speeches and executive actions to enforce existing laws.

Frankly, I support packing the USC since I don't think the USC in its current form functions very well, or is even doing its job well. There are so many circuit splits right now that even federal circuit courts are becoming unreliable sources of law.

First day doctors told us she may never wake up from a coma, and they showed us a CT scan where it looked like some severe damage to areas of the brain. Two days later my grandmother was awake and talking as usual, and the doctors told us flat out that "yeah that brain damage, we don't actually know what happened but it is gone, she is going to be fine " She lived for 9 years after that. To this day I am convinced my grandmother had a mutant healing factor. God rest her soul, she was a tough old lady Old people are remarkably resilient to injury sometimes.

corn in the bible posted:Soon we can start saying "in a 6-3 decision" and also "abortion is illegal" and "being gay is illegal" and "being muslim is illegal" as well I suppose One fun thing I'm expecting is the return of obscenity laws. A lot of states still have them on the books, but former Supreme Court decisions have made them somewhat unenforceable. You might think, nah, even Republicans jack off, they aren't going to ban porn. But if you look at the actual history of obscenity laws, banning porn was only one of the goals. The other major one was to ban the dissemination of information about abortion. Once Roe v Wade gets overturned, we are absolutely going to be back to distributing pamphlets about how to stimulate an abortion at home with OTC drugs or whatever. So yeah, the next step will be bringing back obscenity laws to ban that, and a whole bunch of extra stuff is going to get made illegal along with it. Depending on where you live, of course.

This time out we had to defend a bunch of red-state Senators, after a goddamn Supreme Court fight. Next time, they have to defend a bunch of blue-state and border state Senators. Gardner, Tillis, Collins...I think all of them are gone with the right candidates.
