Man, I was hoping you could just stack Ink Saver Sub and throw out multiple Torpedos but you're limited to one on the field. It's been fun to play with, but I sorta miss my Beakons, especially with the new Reef.

In Training posted:I had 30 minutes this morning to really briefly look at the new stuff. The reef tweaks seem great, they barely touched the central bridge area outside of adding some flat lips underneath to make it easier to get high ground on people, which is whatever. The spawn area feels way bigger and RM has like 4 approach options immediately before the finish line and it's awesome. I only got to play one match on it with a bunch of scrubs so I have no idea how it will shake out long term but it feels like a fun scramble which is way better than the inevitable grind of losing turf in Reef and trying to just huck subs blindly into the pit to try and make progress. You really need to lead the bosses on Polaris because they start up so far down. Of course you can't get too many crowding that small area for obvious reasons. That's the fun of the map in my opinion. That said between the rails and conveniently placed walls climbing up isn't too hard. The biggest issue on the map is visibility since you have that large tower you have no idea what's going on the other sides of it as you duke it out. Also I know you can't climb walls when splatted but can you ride rails? Still getting the drop on bosses is too much. It was so cool to lob a bomb from the air into a Flyfish and actually landing that toss. I loved spotting a Stinger, jumping from the top floor and nailing it as I fell, and jumping on a rail just as the masses of Salmonids crowded around me. It gave me the similar rush I got from RE4 in the section where you're trapped in a house that's getting swarmed. Cannot wait for RE4 to come out on the Switch.

Worth noting the torpedoes only exist on an undercover brella and something with the bubble blower. Both of those greatly benefit from splitting up your target's attention. Layers of annoyance as warfare.

When everyone was kind of doing things it was a bit tougher. Interestingly though I had a person drop out twice and even as three we managed to finish once, the map is really defensive.

The Ultra Stamp is like if they reintroduced the Kraken in this game, except made it horrible to control and took away its invincibility. So it's basically terrible. The only non-suicidal thing you can do with the special is throwing it at someone, and at that point, you might as well just use Inkjet instead.

Freelance Salmon Run is a nightmare right now...I'm not like great at SR, I usually do fine. But I'm doubling everybody in every category tonight bc I have the insane ability of "using my eyes and ears". I cleared 3 waves once in 10 attempts at Pro 400. I maintained my rank thanfully

The new map owns but it does definitely hurt you more than other maps if you’ve got coworkers who don’t let the bosses move in on mid tide The irony of course is high tide seems to encourage just brutally executing bosses as soon as they spawn so I doubt pubbies will ever figure out where they’re going wrong in mid tide. If Capn' Cuttlefish (the only non-teenage Inkling we see) is any indication, Inklings don't get very tall, though artistic license may be in play with things like the Sunken Scrolls. But given the old relics and such there's every indication that they're more or less to human scale. (and on the small side as sentient sealife in the Splatoon world goes)

New salmon run is the best. I'm very proud of this very stupid strat. Switching rails and staying on a ride rail forever is actually useful. Sorta. So latest Salmon Run seems to be Mystery Weapons, of which I had the Grizzco Sloshing machine come up pretty regularly. Pity because while it's super strong I'm horrible at it, since I'm no good at aiming and it fires slowly. I did ok getting my bonuses, but I had some awful runs particularly when using Brushes or the Gootuber.

The obvious solution is to get on Discord. Most of the regulars knock SR out late afternoon (EST). I typically hop on after 9pm and have to either play with pubbies or skip the shift.

Hightide Mothership with any long range weapon is ridiculously easy. Like, a good team on Profreshional can easily crack 50 eggs. Although I find the downside of Hightide on Ark Polaris is you can generally do amazingly well or extremely horrible since there's so little space to work with. Makes it really easy to collect eggs but really hard if it gets overcrowded.

I was being totally serious when I said you need to play the new SR map "nuts". Don't be afraid to go running into trouble , get your egg, and then rail out of there like an action hero. The flip side of that is fish can't climb for poo poo so you can really lay into them constantly from above while you're making the diving moves. I had some of my best games because being wild and ballsy is more my style which doesn't work on the other maps so well, but shines here. Also I had the splattling & flingliza (idk) roller on a mothership round, pichupal found the same thing I did. The reach you have from the top is amazing when you're popping those helicopter fish. VVV X Rank people are That Good & you're likely leaving regional match making which REALLY makes a difference for all the things you're seeing.
