I was going to say "well, at least they didn't doctor it themselves", but I'm not sure if taking a video from that Paul Joseph Wokeson of loving InfoWars fame doesn't make the whole ordeal even loving dumber.

Like, it's another one of those moments where I realize that I'm actually hoping for the administration to be merely dishonest instead of incompetent yet again.

The White House realizes it, but that doesn't matter. The target audience absolutely won't know or care that it's doctored, because they won't believe any sources of information which might contradict their preferred propaganda. One of the bootlickers on my Facebook feed has been sharing it nonstop and crowing about how the admin takes the evil awful liberal media to task. Since he retired from the military, I'm pretty sure his only source of news is Fox and Breitbart. I've long since realized that there's no point engaging with him, but it's good to have an idea of what the maliciously ignorant actually believe.

One of the best things to come out of the last two years is I got the gently caress off of Facebook, deleted the apps, etc. I still have an account so people can look me up but I am never on it and turned the notifications/emails off. It's great- so much toxic bullshit I never see, and the disappointment at the horrible opinions of my extended family has dropped considerably. Some were pissed that I was "ignoring" them, but now instead of communicating through endlessly forwarded "news" articles, I get a nice phone call from my mom or dad if they want to talk. We rarely talk politics anymore, which is probably related. If you absolutely have to have the adult pacifier in your hand all day, install IG and follow a bunch of accounts with travel photos, dogs or hobbies and get lost there. I'm not joking... Facebook is mostly garbage (with ads!) and it made a noticeable difference to my attitude when I got rid of it.

It took a few months for the urge to log back in for the sake of convenience to go away (most people I know and organizations I belong to run events through facebook), and to get used to the little extra effort it took to maintain contact w/ people I give a poo poo about—but it was well worth it for the improvement to my relationships and, following that, my life in general. It's never a bad time to delete your account.

Got off before the primary because I figured people yelling at each other about the election would annoy the poo poo out of me, then stayed off because no reason to make it easy for them to put you on a list (not that not having logged on for 3-4 years will actually help that much, honestly.) poo poo is purposefully addictive, adds stress, and is counterproductive to actually being able to talk meaningfully to people you actually care enough to talk to, IMO.

I would like to quit Facebook but Messenger is too handy for communicating with people and I don't ever look at the main site anyway. My compromise was erasing as much personal information as possible and tightening the privacy on the rest.

Obama also invested an absolute shitload into military medicine related things, by order of 600-700% budget increases across the board. Not just in treatment, but research and policy too. Things were in baaaaaaaad shape before him.
