That works. The beorning can tank while the 5 LMs take turns casting that one heal we have.

It's nice to see these new servers so active, a lot of posters here aren't in discord so if you want to post your name/class/vocation I'm going to make a list. Feel free to make a 9th loremaster, I'm not trying to control anyone from playing what they want, but we could use a tank who plans to play for two months at least so we can run instances. If not, a few of us joined a kin from Arkenstone remade on Anor called 'Du Bekar', they're friendly and experienced but not goons. If you want to make a goon kin feel free, I just know from experience it's always a huge collection of casuals who mostly ignore each other, and with gear and crafting being big this kin has already been helpful. Had a guy level 20 or so already giving us crafted bows for free.

Lazy list I'll add to tomorrow:

About 5 loremasters
1 captain
1 beorning (currently a woodworker)

I'm OK with that too as long as I can get an invite. Who would I ask about that?

I'm Lynara, hobbit guardian (and armourer, because it is my curse to always craft).

I'm on Anor as Tether, loremaster, explorer. I'm pretty casual and gamehop a lot but wouldn't mind a guild bank to dump off-vocation mats and recipes into so I don't have to bother auctioning or vending them. I'll probably put some more time into my captain as well to keep options open, but I played guardian and warden on Landroval heavily recently so I'm enjoying something different.

If that poster on reddit keeps up the class counts I'll be curious to see if loremaster really did jump in the general population or if its just a goon favorite. I only saw 1-2 others last night in the elf areas but there were minstrels, hunters and captains everywhere. A couple of people seemed to be multiboxing, one with 2 minstrels and a captain eerily moving and shouting stuff down in sync and the other with 2 elves in the same cosmetic dresses though that one could have just been a duo.

Cool seeing how active this is so far, wonder how long it will last. Also wonder how many are returning lifetime players, would be nice if SSG could get a nice cash infusion from the Legendary servers and put that money into the regular server updates and infrastructure. My guess is the rush will die down but it will stay fairly active through Mirkwood (enough to keep one server active enough to find groups for instances), would think player counts start to drop once they move onto Rohan and later content.

EDIT: nm, just did it anyway.

definitely keep re-queueing. whatever they are using (i'd guess some home-roll on top of RabbitMQ) is completely overwhelmed and isn't processing internal queue movements correctly

if you get a number over 200 just try again. i've seen up around 3380 at some points.

I tried like 4 times, and got in immediately on the 4th try. The queue is doing weird things, and it's much easier to make it in if you just keep quitting/relaunching until it pops you right in.

Oh, for Guardian. Use two handers for redline soloing or does it matter with bleeds? Or is yellow better for soloing?

There is a large issue with the dungeon content balancing on the legendary server.

So the devs did nothing to actually tune the PvE content to its original difficulty so basically you can steamroll all of the dungeons and raids. If you're looking to experience the launch level difficulty or well... any difficulty/challenge for that matter look elsewhere. All of the dungeon content gets easily stomped.

Similar to WoW's leveling dungeons everyone can spam AoE aggro, damage, and heals into a big pile of mobs and they all just die. No need to worry about boss mechanics wiping your group you can just outheal it all. People are 3 manning Rift already.

Not just dungeon content, but mobs in general.

A few weeks before legendary dropped, I began rolling a Hobbit Guardian. Decided to do the same with Anor for comparison’s sake and because I enjoy playing Guardian— same exact difficulty level, exact same amount of time getting through quests the first ten levels.

That being said, I didn’t decide to go legendary because of difficulty, so it’s not a big deal to me

Dunno if this has been said, but shroud streamed this the last couple days with >15k viewers. He's on Anor and had a public min folks can join. I just resubbed after like seven years and played for like 12h in two days. I accidentally guessed the wrong legendary server though and rerolled after seeing him stream multiple days with multiple chars and the popularity kicking in. I'm betting his community will surge the server a bit.

Wardens are fun but definitely loud.

I just found out about the Legendary servers. I m thinking about joining one because i've had a few characters around lvls 20-35 but never really got invested in the game.

The idea of playing with actual people running around in a new server is appealing to say the least :P

e: tbh last time I tried playing this game it would re-download many gigabytes of updates every time I launched it at abysmal speed, so I decided it's a bad game. I'm hoping they fixed their launcher by now.

The Demogorgon is tired of your silly human bickering!

I'm thankful they didn't revert open tapping for the classic server. There are still some annoyances like having to wait in line for popular escort quests. I was running through the barrows and some kid I was supposed to be looking for ran by being escorted by another player. It triggered my quest to automatically finish but I didn't get the follow up escort quest and I'm going to have to look at a wiki since I no longer have the lead in. Or ignore it, I already have the "do tons of bree quests" deed finished. But where's the fun in that. I popped into one of the mini barrow dungeons and found a deed from killing spiders in there. I wasn't going to bother but a beorning was running around so I started following him helping his kills with my instants and eagle. A hunter joined us and the time flew by as people came and went. No one talking, no one grouping up, just a roaming clump of players throwing tags as fast as they could on anything that moved that usually then exploded. Good times.

Old Forest wasn't as bad as I remember it. Last time was at the end of the vanilla beta as an undergeared underleveled guardian with no map, and this time I had a decently equipped underleveled loremaster with overpowered pets and a very clear in game map. I remember being totally lost and scared in there the first time but this time around it was just a few trips around to clean up the quests and find the flowers and landmarks. Only the bit with orange trees and aggro vines gave me any trouble and I just needed to mez them while resummoning my pet a few times to get through.

Lore-master is pretty interesting. I'm trying blue-line for pets for solo questing. Spellcasting is kind of slow but the instant long range and low damage wizard's fire is great for pulling and tagging enemies. The bear and eagle are both good damage and tanking for me. The main annoyance is trying to recast my cure and others-only heal on cooldown to make progress on the deeds for the trait points. Almost everything else is either trivial to spam or gets capped daily during the normal course of play.

Is there an easy way to tell about enemy damage being tactical damage or should I just hit up the wikis? The raven pet has an aura of tactical mitigation for the fellowship, and I'm not sure when using that would be better than using the bear for the damage buff or the eagle for the power regen when I start grouping up.

If it isn't slapping you in the face or shooting/throwing a weapon at you then it is probably tactical (and sometimes even then). Usually the things that do tactical damage are magical creatures or casting obvious spells. For example the wights have an aura that hits you with shadow damage over time. At low levels there isn't that much tactical damage to worry about. In high level instance boss fights it is typically the predominant damage type.

You can tell what damage type is hitting you in the combat log, if it says fire, shadow, light, lightning, or acid then it is tactical.

That's good to know. I was thinking tactical was another element itself and tac resists would be good for some captain or minstrel raid boss that shouted and jammed chords at everyone.
