I'm sure there are lots of other offices there, as well. 200 people standing in a hallway is disruptive by nature, which cops hate. My friend just told me that Pelosi actually delayed the police action so she could dress up in a uniform and join in the arresting.

DC (Capitol) police are some of the most professional and understanding officers you'll ever deal with, but you are a brokebrain if you don't think they'll not arrest you for this kind of thing of their own volition. But you'll also be let go without charges. It's mostly to get you to leave. I've worked in DC a long time, they're good folks.

I mean yeah he could declare the election invalid, he could declare what ever the gently caress he wants but come inauguration day the Secret service would escort his rear end to the door as the new administration takes power. I guess I should clarify I'm less worried about a coup and more worried about him inciting some crazy MAGA cultist to go shoot up the people counting the ballots because "the Democrats are trying to steal the election". Hell, I'm vaguely worried that someone's going to do that in Florida over this election.

Rent-A-Cop posted:What world do you live in where cops just go around doing poo poo out of the goodness of their hearts? Yes, probably a Captain or someone else in the police chain of command, who upon hearing about a two-hundred person protest in the halls of the Capitol Building, said "go break up that protest because that's not authorized." Protestors who refused to leave were then arrested, and they will be released later. Nancy Pelosi does not personally oversee the DC Police.

Let's criticize Dems for the bad things they do and not speculate, it undermines credibility. There are plenty more legitimate, substantive things to criticize them for.

axelord posted:We can both agree that Pelosi has power right? Cops are not going to mess with anything to do with her office without talking to someone. This is how the world works man. That is not how the Capitol Police work, no. My evidence that your personal, unsubstantiated assumptions cannot be trusted is the fact that you weren't aware that the Capitol Police would know about a protest with hundreds of people, even though they are literally stationed in the Capitol. Because you weren't even aware that they are a distinct police force that only patrols the Capitol. Like, cops don't need a reason to clear out 200 unapproved protesters from an indoor space. That's not an out-of-ordinary thing for cops to do.
