California's close races just keep hammering the Republicans and stacking a grisly legislative toll on top of the GOP above where it already was

AND GUMDROPS AND RAINBOWS AND PUPPIES AND PONIES, BROUGHT BY FAIRIES AND SANTA CLAUS, BECAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS THESE THINGS ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO PAY FOR WITHOUT MURDERING YOU WITH TAXES"

That is their future voting base.

I'm no Pelosi fan but the issue with the current people who are talking about voting her out is that they all suck worse than she does.

It's kind of hard to imagine Pelosi not winning the Speakership when the only contender is an Ohioan challenging her from the right and Barbara Lee, a Pelosi ally who seems to get brought up solely because she's the most liberal name in the House leadership (and doesn't seem particularly eager to mount a challenge).

Not to sounds cynical, but we're probably still at least cycle or two away from seeing any shift in the calcified Dem leadership. Not that I wouldn't love to see a younger and more progressive congressperson take Pelosi's place yesterday, but as Tibalt points one that person doesn't really exist at the moment. For now, I'll make do with having progressives primary every conservative and centrist Dem they can to drag the party left, kicking and screaming if necessary.

Every person under 30 who voted for republicans last week is no different than any of those marchers. It's not a majority right now but there aren't "none" of them.

The return of PayGo is just what is wrong with the Dem party leadership in a nutshell. Surrendering to conservative framing for a stupid piece of "reasonable sounding" policy that no voter other than maybe David Brooks or Morning Joe actually gives a poo poo about.

Yeah, the biggest mistake the Dems can make right now is take their foot off the gas pedal. The moment they do that, 2020 is lost. I'm glad people like AOC got elected. But the Democratic Party also needs a few real ratfuckers like McConnell in positions of power. People who are willing to not just slash the air with the knife a few times in a threatening manner, but stab hard and deep and then twist. That's what I'm hoping the various committees are gonna do with subpoenas. If they back down though, or go for some kind of compromise...
